Review: Benefit Puff Off

Firstly, let me apologise. My make-up free mug is probably not the best sight for your Monday morning eyes – but it’s for a good purpose (and actually… I’m just as happy out of make-up as in it). This post is to give you a little peek at the new Benefit Puff Off product that is one of those half and half things that’s not quite make-up but not just skincare… a happy dose of both really. Described as an ‘Instant eye gel to help smooth the look of puffies’ – the product comes in a little tube with an iron-like applicator and a gel that’s lightly tinted with sheer light reflecting pigment.

I personally don’t tend to suffer from puffiness all that often – I have other eye issues of dehydration/lines etc. But occasionally you just want a bit of a refresh, especially if you spend far too much time in front of a computer like I tend to. Plus, it’s January – which as fun and full of new-starts as it is, is also a pretty sleepy/tired month where a pick-me-up is often needed. As I mentioned above, the applicator is a cute little iron shape with a metallic head – which means it feels lovely and cooling to use. The idea of the iron being that your literally ‘iron out’ the puffiness. Probably a quirkly gimmick in all honesty, but still – the shape does lend itself to getting that cooling effect into the smallest corners.

I tend to apply a little with the iron head to get the cooling, then rub in properly with my ring finger (cue lots of photos attempting to capture this that look like I’m giving the camera the finger…. I edited these out of the final batch). It’s a tough one to capture, but hopefully in the shot below you can see how my right eye (left in photo) looks that bit smoother and brighter. As I would generally use this first thing with no make-up on I went for showing it on a no-make-up face to try to demonstrate the effect. I think along with smoothing it brightens to conceal dark circles a bit too – major plus.

The best thing for me about this is that the cooling feeling does last  – I applied this for the photos and everything around two hours ago and my eyes feel significantly fresher than normal – there’s still that coolness of the applicator that generally made me feel a bit more sprightly.

A handy little part make-up/part skin-care secret weapon to have in the old ‘tired morning’ arsenal I reckon…. or if you suffer from puffy eyes on a regular basis then you probably need to check this out.

Great review Jen! I have similar eye concerns as you – fine lines and dehydration throughout the day but I think I will try this for my dark circles. x

I can’t decide if this is a bit too gimmicky for me or not so will probably go to a counter to test it first. It sounds like something I’d like though – especially the light reflecting element.
