Incoming #1

Incoming Jan 11th

A while back I did an ‘incoming’ video on my You Tube channel – it went down pretty well and whilst I’m still not totally sure on the YT front I decided I would introduce the idea to the blog. This is a little ‘first impressions/quick look’ at some new bits that have arrived with me this week. It will likely be a combination of PR samples (marked with a * as always) and any purchases (where relevant.. I don’t always shop every week – believe it or not) as think both can be interesting to read about. Will potentially also include non-beauty as and when. So here we go with instalment 1 of ‘Incoming’ 2015 style…

Should probably note it will only be a quick look as proper reviews (with swatches etc) will come separately.

1. Morgan Taylor Cinderella Collection*

Disney is bringing out a live action version of Cinderella this year and as with any movie nowadays it has it’s accompanying products. This collection is one from Morgan Taylor and mostly has me excited for Spring as it’s a burst of colour that starts to get me excited for warmer days. Immediate stand out for me is the shade ‘Best Ball Gown Ever’ which is the cornflower blue with greeny/silver shimmer shade that’s just seen on the edge. But will put to the test and report back.

2. & Other Stories Eau de Toilette*

A selection of four fragrances from & Other Stories. I think & Other Stories will potentially be an interesting one to watch in 2015 – these four fragrances are all quite unique and interesting but still really wearable. Gorgeously simple packaging too. Again, reviews to come but initial favourites either Fig Fiction or Moroccan Tea I think…

3. Bobbi Brown Illuminating Nudes*

All about the fresh face for the start of the year. I do adore Bobbi Brown and the brand can basically do no wrong when it comes to new collections in my eyes. The full collection includes some sparkle eyeshadows (quite unusual for a Jan launch), flattering matte blushers (love the look of these) a CC Cream, Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm, some very nude lipgloss shades and Natural Brow Shaper. I have a sparkle eyeshadow in Golden Peach, Brow Shaper in Slate and Gloss in Almost Nude. First impressions, the eyeshadow is a gorgeous shade for blue-eyes, love the cool tone of the brow product but the lip gloss is probably a little too-nude for me but does smell minty fresh (sucker for mint) so will probably find me slathering it on anyway. Again, full post to come.

4. Zelens The Balm*

I already reviewed a few bits of the new Zelens Colour range (can see this here) and this is one of the products that sits somewhere between skincare and make-up. I’ve actually already gotten stuck into this little silver pot a couple of times – as I have seriously chapped lips right now – and first impressions very positive. But will give it a few days of use before reviewing as it’s definitely not a one-use-problem-solved kinda product (there’s no such thing when it comes to lips as far as I’m aware!?).

5. Illamasque Glissade

I went along to the Illamasqua School of Make Up on Saturday to spend a couple of hours picking up some tips on quick and easy but professional make-up looks using minimal products and minimal tools. At the end, because it was a Saturday evening we had free reign to choose a lip colour and I went for Glissade. It was instant love so I couldn’t resist making a purchase before I left. A gorgeous raspberry pink that I’m pretty sure I don’t have a similar shade of  in my collection already… although in all honesty I probably do have something close. Either way, I loved this on first use and shall be posting on the School of Make-Up Session next week.

6. Calm Down Body Wash*

From a brand called Plant that’s available via a beautiful world – originating in Brooklyn, which you can kinda tell from the cool style of packaging. Five variants that each promise a different mood-enhancing result of using the body wash. I have the Calm Down version that’s Ginger & Lavender and designed to chill you out at the end of the day. Not tried this yet but giving it a sniff and it does smell deliciously warm and soothing so looking forward to giving this a whirl.

Let me know which of these you are most interested to see a full post on and I’ll get on it! Or if there’s any of these on your shopping wish list already??
