Ok people, it’s January and you know the drill. We’re all a bit in recovery mode following the (oh so fun) season of excess. I don’t know about you, but when I’ve been replacing water and veg with sugar and alcohol the first place it shows is my face. HELLO dull complexion and dry skin. Well, after December being about fun, January is #AboutFace – all about the face. I’m excited to be working with Simple Skincare over December & January to document the whole process from party to getting back to as peachy a complexion as I can manage.
First week in Jan and it’s been all about getting back to work and getting back into good habits. Starting with a decent cleanse… to try and get my skin back on an even keel again. I blame the sugar, but over the past month I have been partial to the odd breakout and generally my skin just not really feeling itself. Throw in some rich meals and a cheese board or two (I didn’t eat the whole thing myself, promise) and cleansing is the order of the day. I’ve also been finding myself reaching for the Simple Kind To Skin Eye Roll on as I think my eyes have been a bit shocked by the whole ‘back to days in front of a screen’ thing again…plus re-adjusting my sleeping pattern to going to bed and getting up at a reasonable hour has meant feeling a bit lethargic in the day (also, can I blame the sugar for this too)?
Of course it’s not just about the skincare side of things – although that’s a big part. The whole inside-out factor applies here too. Along with giving my skin a bit of TLC on the outside, I’ve also been taking some steps to give it a bit of love from the inside too. Firstly – water, lots of it. I have tried to cut back my Diet Coke habit in the New Year and replace with drinking a pint of water. My aim is to drink a pint of water an hour through the day when at my desk – no exaggeration, combined with a solid skincare routine it’s the fastest way to see results.
In terms of the products I’m using – there’s quite a range and I’m adapting to see what suits my skin best so I’ll tell you a bit more about this, what I’m using and why in the coming weeks. This week’s stand out has definitely been the Revitalising Eye Roll-On though – my eyes are loving the refreshing feeling post Christmas.
