Backstage Matthew Williamson AW 15
London Fashion Week does tend to be full of shows from designers that unless you’re a die-hard fashion fan then there’s a high chance you might not have heard of them… As much as I’d love to be that girl who knows all the latest up and comers, I’m very much more of a know-the-big names sort of girl. Matthew Williamson is one of those big names – and familiar faces – that when I get given the chance to go backstage at his show, I did a little squeal. Backstage is without a doubt my favourite bit of fashion week – sure, the shows can be amazing. But seeing the beauty fun that goes into it all is where my heart lies. Especially when the beauty look is gorgeous and achieveable like it is for Matthew Williamson AW15
Hair: Toni & Guy Products & Tools
The hair for the Matthew Williamson show is the sort of hair basically every girl wants – naturally wavy texture with the look of ‘oh this, I just woke up with it looking this casual-fabulous’. Let by Mark Hampton and his team – the hair was long extensions, softly tonged with the Toni & Guy Jumbo Tong to create loose waves. Then the hair was pinned in a delicate half ponytail with the hair by the side of the head being held subtly in place. The pony tail was then tied with a clear band to create a totally natural and not too ‘done’. Quite ethereal and soft – basically how I want my hair to be on a daily basis!
The hero product used was a new dry shampoo that doesn’t launch until September but promises a combination of all the things we know and love about dry shampoo but with added bonus of volume – making it less of a second-day hair essential and more an every day styling product. As someone with hair flatter than a pancake I can say for sure that I am keen to give this a whirl!
Make-Up: Benefit Cosmetics
The awesome Lisa Potter-Dixon, Head Make-Up & Trend Artist for Benefit was leading the helm of all things make-up for the Matthew Williamson show and has done for 6 seasons now. Lisa is his go to girl for both shows and for his campaigns too. Let’s just say Benefit and Matthew Williamson are a match made in pretty-heaven.
The skin was made gorgeous and glowing with Oxygen Wow Foundation. Then extra sheen and radiance added using the eyeshadow shade Guilty Pleasure as a highlight down the bridge of the nose. Benefit Hoola to contour.
Guilty Pleasure came into play again on the lips when it topped off a combination of Boing Concealer and Air Kiss lipstick to add a touch of radiance and shine to lips too – to match the overall glow of the face.
The eyes became the real star of the show with a combination of Waterproof Bad Gal Liner in the crease and then exaggerated out to create a sort of raised feline flick that manages to sit in a happy ground between being creative and very ‘Fashion Week’, yet still looking wearable and a look that could be recreated. The liner was made even more defined thanks to Boing being used to create that definition. Also, handy tip…rather than trying to clear up. They’re Real Mascara of course was the finishing touch for a wide awake look.
On a side note… now much do I want to get myself a Z Palette and de-pot all the Benefit Blush & Bronzers into it!?
Matthew Williamson AW 15
The collection overall was full of jewel tones and Zodiac and typically of Matthew Williamson the whole look embraces all thing floaty, feminine and girly. From the curves of the liner to the long flowing waves of the hair. Easily one of the most achievable looks seen on the catwalk this season.
