London Fashion Week: Backstage Vivienne Westwood Red AW 2015

Backstage Vivienne Westwood Red AW 2015

Vivienne Westwood has to be one of THE biggest names in British Fashion. To be able to see the looks created for the catwalk backstage was an amazing experience – and in a pretty epic venue too of the Science Museum. MAC at the helm for the make-up and nails and Toni & Guy looking after hair. It was bound to be a creative and exciting finished look for the models strutting the catwalk in Vivenne’s signature styles.

Hair: Toni & Guy

The hair looks were led by Mark Hampton again and each one created with a unique twist – so no uniform girls here! The overall image was inspired by a modern twist on a punk look two core looks of ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ (despite all the models being female) – a masculine & a feminine themed look overall for each model. With some of the looks for the ‘girls’ featuring hair being tied under the chin…in a bit of a ‘bearded lady’ sort of fashion. Mark himself described the female looks as ‘more hairy’!

Fake fringes were used in a variety of shades – blonde fringe on dark hair, dark fringe on light hair, some fringes a closer colour match. All unique per model (those that had the fringes) with them being used in various ways. As faux-hawks or even like wings on the side of the head. Creative uses in ways that gave each model an individual feel – after all, that’s what Vivienne is all about.

The key product being used was again the Dry Shampoo that launches in September – this time the one that promises the styling benefit of adding texture. But without that powdery feeling of typical dry shampoo.

Make-Up: MAC

Val Garland headed up the make-up team and told us all about the looks created and how unique they each were. With each make-up artist creating their own interpretation of the various spots/smudges and streaks of the face painted design. Red was of course the key colour – as you might expect from the brand name – but black and white also played a part. With the white looking stunning on the darker skin tones – almost like a really extreme highlight on some of the models.

Have to say though, I do feel for the models having to get home and wash all sorts of acrylic MAC pro make-up off and out of their hair!

The show itself featured the gorgeous Daisy Lowe walking in the show – she’s a true stunner in real life. SO tall too! I didn’t get to see the dress she was wearing for the show until after but it looked amazing. Black sparkle with lace – gorgeous stuff. My favourite thing about Daisy Lowe being that she’s not too cool to have a big grin on her face! A rarity in the fashion world it seems!

This was one of my favourite collections at this year’s LFW. The clothes are beautiful, and the makeup so unique.

  2. Superb looks created for catwalk.
