As I sit here typing it’s not quite the same as last Saturday… whereas last Saturday was one of those gorgeous sunny Spring days that almost feels like Summer. Today it’s back to more typical UK weather… but let’s pretend that’s not the case and I’ll tell you a little about last weekend’s fun and games on a sunny Saturday in Angel…
Last Saturday, after the morning dog walk and all that fun and games… Ollie and I headed out into Angel for a late afternoon lunch in the Sun. We didn’t really have a plan of where to go, but new we wanted to sit in the sun and enjoy the warmth! So we went to Theberton Street – a street that runs off Upper Street and a big chunk of it is just little restaurants. All independent ones too as far as I know, no chains or places you can find anywhere. It’s a good place to head – Mem & Laz is one that we’ve been to many a time for birthday celebrations for friends (warning – they sing to you and make you stand on a chair…). But this time we grabbed the only empty seats in the sun outside La Vita E Bella, a little Italian place with a pretty extensive menu to choose from.
First things first we ordered a bottle of fizz – what better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than chatting with your favourite person over a glass of sparkling fizz in the sun?! Throw some lovely food into the mix and I am one happy girl.
The cherry on top was the fact that they have parma ham and melon on the menu – not exactly the rarest of dishes but one that always reminds me of holidays and could very well be my all time favourite starter dish. Ollie went for the calamari, which he told me was delicious.
For mains I had chicken with a mushroom sauce and veggies, it was really good. Ollie had the seafood pizza – which we went as far to say it could be the best he has had! Overall, it was a lovely little place to enjoy the sun – the side of the street is just lined with tons of tables, it’s a perfect place to head on a sunny day for some lunch.
I do love Angel, it’s funny to think that there’s a possibility of not living here any more (as moving house is on the cards) it’s my favourite area in London without a doubt and very much feels like home. It’s like a small town within a city – with more places to eat than I think I could manage in my lifetime!
If you’re spending a sunny Saturday (or Sunday) In Angel then definitely head to Theburton Street if you want a nice spot of lunch. Also on the corner is La Farola…another Angel favourite of mine. But whatever you’re up to this not-so-sunny Saturday, have a lovely day and weekend!
