I’m going to confess something a little thick for a moment here. When I first came across these little wax tarts I didn’t have a clue how they should really be used – I just thought they were like small floating candles. But in actual fact they’re not – they’re little blocks of wax that are melted to release fragrance. They’re pretty effective and smell just as good as burning a candle. If you like candles and this style of home fragrance then you will like The Melt Crowd idea from Flamingo Candles. A sort of subscription box but for these melting candles…
The idea being that for the first month you sign up and get a little wax tart burner (I used to have one of these and used it to heat essential oils to scent a room) the space underneath fits a little tea light candle that when lit heats the chamber above to melt the little wax tart that sits within it. As it melts to liquid and releases the fragrance.
The Wax Crowd mailing then includes eight scent melts each individually wrapped and ready for use each month for £10 a mailing.
The first month also includes the all important wax burner and in all honesty all eight wax tarts will take a while to burn through, so I expect you will build quite a collection over the months if you do aim to finish each and every one rather than scrape it out and throw away.
As for the scents themselves – they’re just lovely and perfect for this time of year when full on candle burning might not be quite right when it’s warmer. But these still give you all the home scenting that you could want. My favourites from the box I have… Daisy (an awful lot like MJ Daisy) and Freshly Mown Grass. All perfectly fresh and Spring/Summer scents. I am seriously tempted to sign up for the monthly boxes to keep this little babies gong.
