If there’s one thing above all else that gets a beauty junkie’s heart racing then it has to be a palette. What is it about that little compact filled with a selection of shades that just catches the attention each and every time?! I don’t know but it really does. This is a beauty of a palette filled with neutral plus a few more interesting shades – that are just that lovely fine line between wearable and interesting. This is the Lancome Auda[city] in Paris palette.
The first four shades (on left) are: Filigree (pale gold/yellow shimmer), Chouquette (pale nude) Parfait (baby pink) and Joie (pale taupe shimmer). They are each swatched below to show the colour pay off – which varies with the shimmer shades showing up a little stronger but all making great highlight/wash shades.
The middle four shades are: Voyage (terracotta matte) Sante (soft brown matte) Exhibition (reddy cranberry, subtle shimmer) and Zip Me Up (deeb purple shimmer). These four all have great pay off shade wise and give the palette and interesting twist. I actually really love that these warmer teracotta shades are in there as it gives something different – the purple even looks easy to wear and would make an awesome smokey eye.
The next four are cooler more ‘typical’ neutral shades – all very day to day wearable, plus the essential black shade. These are: Volcano (a cool taupe shimmer), Audacious (a warmer toned taupe), Couture (a cool toned brown that has a slight sheen, but not shimmer finish) and “It”list (matte black).
The four shades along the bottom bring another few special shades to the mix. With Kitten Heel (a peachy coral shade with gold shimmer), Tenacity (another very pretty taupe), Clock Strikes 12 (a dark grey with subtle shimmer) and Nuit (a midnight blue shimmer). These four are probably my favourites as they manage to be both really pretty and wearable but also very interesting too.
Kitten Heel is very much a ‘Nars Orgasm’ type of shade – and feels like the most unique of the palette. Would look gorgeous as a little cheek highlight in a bind too. Tenacity is exactly my sort of day to day shade and a blend of Nuit as a smokey eye would look beautiful.
All in all, this has to be one of the most beautiful palettes I’ve seen in a long time. It really is a gorgeous mix of shades and a very strong contender for an ‘if I could only have one’ top pick. If anything, I’m a little surprised I haven’t heard more buzz about it so far?! I’d definitely be putting this on my Christmas wish list – it really is a beauty.
