Internet meet MINTD Box

There are beauty boxes left right and centre – I think it’s a fine line between over saturation and plentiful choice so there’s something for everyone. I guess, as with any thing it comes down to survival of the fittest when it comes to see who stands the test of time. So this post is an introduction to the MINTD Box. It’s probably a little shallow, but I was curious just on hearing the name – because mint is my favourite colour… I was curious?! Is that a bad thing to admit?! But beyond the name, what is this new MINTD Box all about…OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Well for one, it’s all about luxury. This is not a box you will find budget brands in, as the name does in fact suggest beyond the colour association… The box is a monthly subscription, and much like others on the market it follows a similar approach. Each month you get around 4-5 full or deluxe sample sized products all from luxury brands. Also, like other brands – you have the chance to personalise your own profile to allow for the boxes to be tailored to your own preferences on an ongoing basis.

The box has a higher price point than others on the market, but this does reflect the value of the contents. At £65 a month, it’s not really a cheap treat – but value for money wise the box I’m showing here contains £128 of product, so that’s not to be sniffed at. However, the monthly cost really does just come down to the individuals choice and if they decide they can afford it or not.

The July Box I have to show you (still available at time of writing) contains four full sized and one travel sized products. All brands stocked in the higher end department stores of Liberty, Selfridges, Harrods and online at Net a Porter. The products are:

REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot – An instant fix gel/serum that’s designed to give an immediate boost to skin pre-moisturiser.  I love REN as a brand so happy to spy this one in the box as it’s one I’ve been keen to try for a while.

Ellis Faas Hot Lips Lip Colour L403 – A brand I first tried at a Liberty event a few years ago. Really beautiful packaging that remind me of the vials of Dino DNA in Jurassic Park. This colour is right up my street as a bright fuchsia shade. LOVE.

Lauren Napier Cleanse Facial Cleansing Wipes – This pack of five wipes would cost £7 if bought on it’s own. Which does seem a bit steep in my eyes, regardless how premium a brand really. I haven’t tried them yet and sure they will come in handy. Secretly I’m hoping they’re not amazing as I can’t quite get my head around paying that much for face wipes. But if they are amazing I will of course let you know.

Patchology Flash Masque Trio – A set of three sheet masks designed to exfoliate, illuminate and hydrate skin. You could use each individually depending on what your skin needs or maybe go all multi-mask and do one after another. I’d probably recommend the first approach of selecting based on what your skin needs so you don’t overload it with product. Each sheet mask is serum based so after you remove the sheet you don’t rinse, just massage any remaining serum into the skin to absorb to get max benefit. These would be £15 for the trio, so £5 a mask. Not a vast amount more than Sephora own brand sheet masks. Not the cheapest but am on the fence if these are truly luxury price point? Let me know what you think on this point as would be interested to know other views.

EviDenS The Rich Cream (travel size) – To buy a full size (50ml) pot of this would set you back at least £211.50 on so not for the faint of heart. The 10ml premium travel sized sample is worth £47. It promises to offer deep moisture and lots of repairing and anti-ageing benefits. Again, I’ve not tried and previously not heard of this brand so can’t offer a full opinion. All I could say is that I hope it’s as amazing as the price point suggests!

My two top picks of the box are the Ellis Faas Lip Colour and the REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot. Mostly because I’m always drawn to the brands I know and am familiar with when it comes to beauty boxes as it gives me an immediate impression of the ‘value for money’ aspect.  It may not always be the right way as I do also think beauty boxes like the MINTD Box are a great way to discover new brands too.

I think it’s great to see an offering that suits the premium market. If you absolutely adore beauty but are keen to find new things – and budget isn’t too much of an issue – then it’s well worth investing in a box. They offer a monthly or bi-monthly subscription offer. Or there’s always the idea of giving it as a special gift to ‘the girl who has everything’!

Let me know your thoughts on a luxury option beauty box. What brands would want/expect to see in there and is it something you would consider spending your own money on?

Wow, £65 a month! The contents might be worth £128 but that’s only a steal if you really want all of the contents, which seems unlikely. I think I’ll give this one a miss.

Sounds pricey but I agree, it is great value if you actually want everything in the box! I guess it’s best to keep an eye out for what’s in each months box and purchase on an individual basis 🙂

Does anybody actually exist for whom budget isn’t an issue? Not in my world. Even people who’ve got it don’t necessarily want to waste it. And £7 for five wipes is just taking the pee. The only way I would consider something like this is if I 100% liked everything in there and would’ve bought them anyway, or if it contained many more trial sample sizes. Having full sizes isn’t a selling point to me because what if you don’t like the product?
