Red Carpet Manicure Escape to Paradise Collection

If I was going to round up the beauty things I’ve been loving in 2016 I would have to put gel manicures up there near the top of the list. I’ve definitely been making more of an effort to book myself in to my local salon and get my ‘nails did’ so I have that glossy two-week manicure that just immediately makes me feel more put-together. BUT as much as I’d love to be one of those women with a regular manicure appointment, sometimes life gets in the way. So I also have loved having my own at-home gel manicure option in the form of Red Carpet Manicure. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Red Carpet Manicure is a ‘proper’ gel system – not one that’s basically really shiny polish with the gel name… but not really very different at all to a normal polish. This is one that has layers and a special light to cure and finish it. In almost every way it’s just like an in-salon polish really.

There are a number of steps to get the gel manicure with that professional finish as you want from a salon. It can take a little practice, and time to get right. But if you can happily get at least a week of wear out of the polish without batting an eyelid afterwards then it’s well worth it.

For example, the below is the shade Poolside Fling from the Red Carpet Manicure Escape to Paradise Collection after over a week of wear. Not bad huh? Ok, so there’s a bit of growth and some tip wear but after over a week (I think this was day eight) and zero chips I was happy.  This is just one of the shades from the collection, I wanted to give them all a little show-off because they’re perfect for the end of Summer vibe where you want to prolong that holiday feeling (and probably tan) for as long as you can.

The six shades are:

Poolside Fling (Deep Turquoise)

Boat & Heels (Bright creamy turquoise)

Frolic in the Sand (pale peachy pink)

Until the Sun Sets (Bright coral)

Sun Kiss & Tell (Bright Pink)

Yaght Hopping (Minty Green)

This is one of those collections that when I spotted it, I loved the shades. Bright and pastels all mixed in and the perfect Summery rainbow of shades. Quality wise – the colours are great. The deeper colours (turquoise, purple, darker pink) have higher pigment so look stronger. The swatches of each are two coats – but these are without the usual base/curing routine as you would have with a gel polish so just use as a guide as the finished article will look more even and pigmented.

But if you’re in general looking for an at-home manicure option then would recommend Red Carpet Manicure. It takes a little longer than a normal manicure, but the immediately dry (smudge proof) result and glossy colour that easily lasts a week plus is well worth it. In the comfort of your own home and feels like you’re saving money when you’re not paying for a gel manicure.

Red Carpet Manicure Escape To Paradise Collection * is available from ASOS (£12.95 – but remember you need the starter kit to go with the colour polish)

I can’t get the appeal of gel manicure (at least for me) because with my base and top coat I have 7-10 days of proper looking nails. So why bother? 🙂

I wish my manicures lasted that long!
