As if Glossier being available to ship to the UK wasn’t already exciting enough – they go and put the cherry on top with a central London pop up shop? Ok so if it was a permanent showroom that would be ace – but even a little temporary dose of London based Glossier was exciting.
I managed to stop by on the last day of the pop up and got there just before opening time. There was a line out the door already of fellow excited Glossier fans excited to get inside and check out the wares on offer.
No matter how much you read about a brand or hear good things online – sometimes you just want to see it in person. Especially with the latest launch of the fragrance, which is what I was keen to try. I’d heard good things, but fragrance is such a subjective thing I wanted to try it for myself.
I can confirm that the hype around the Glossier You fragrance is real. It smells really, really good. In fact it was one of those very rare times that when I got home Ollie commented on my perfume and how good I smelt. Not that this is a rare occurrence because I normally smell bad… more just it’s not often he notices my perfume. But this one he noticed and I was left kicking myself for not actually buying it.
I know, such a muppet. But there was logic there. I was shopping on a bit of a budget because Christmas and baby coming mean saving is priority so I didn’t want to go overboard. I decided with the perfume that as it’s £45 if I did decide at a later date to get it then it’s over the free shipping threshold so it’s not like I’d have to pay extra to get it ordered vs buying in person.
The main thing about the Glossier You fragrance that I liked is that it smells powdery and clean, with a little floral in there but really comes alive on your skin and will smell that little bit different on everyone. It’s basically just up my street and even just writing this I know I should have bought it. Maybe one for my Christmas list!
The other products I was really keen to check out in person are the colour cosmetics. I had a feeling the skin tint and the stretch concealer would be my sort of thing in their natural but glowy ‘thing’ that’s very Glossier. I was also pleasantly surprised by the Generation G lipstick. One I’d heard mixed things about – some loved and others didn’t. I really liked the texture of these. I was expecting it to be more dry than they were but they were creamy with a mix of sheer and more pigmented shade options. My favourite being one called Like that was that ‘my lips but dialled up a bit’ shade.
Then, I also took a peek at the skincare. I actually already have a lot of the skincare products I was most desperate to try (I have a mask and a serum review coming your way soon) the Priming Moisturiser did really tempt me – as I already have and love the rich version – but I decided to hold off.
What I did buy however was the two new(ish) body products. The Daily Perfecting Cream felt absolutely gorgeous on my hand and smells good enough to eat (don’t do this) and I’ve always been a sucker for a shower oil so decided to treat myself to the duo. It was an easy one to justify as a purchase as I told myself it would be good for bump too… not that I don’t already have a cupboard filled with body & bump care goodies. But I couldn’t help myself!
I also couldn’t leave without a new balm.com – cherry and mint are two of my all time favourite flavours so it was a tough call but went for the cherry. I already have the original so fancied a tinted version to add to my collection.
All in all I was pretty restrained I’d say. Safe to say if money was no object I would have gone to town! If this was the case I would definitely have also picked up the following:
- Glossier You Perfume
- Stretch concealer (light shade)
- Generation G (shade Like)
- Priming Moisturiser
Plus probably a whole lot more, because let’s face it – when it comes to a brand like Glossier it’s just hard to say no?!
Overall though, I’m delighted with what I chose and I loved that I got to experience the whole ‘Glossier’ brand in person. The girls in the showroom were fantastic and helpful – encouraging testing products on skin (& promising they would clean everything as soon as you’re done). They all had a very cool NYC vibe about them too. Very Glossier on-brand.
Of course if you missed the pop up you can still shop as Glossier is shipping to the UK now. Just spend over £25 for free delivery.
