Benefit Hello Happy Foundation

I do wonder if Benefit might have been doing some of that slightly creepy social-media listening… or min reading… when it comes to a foundation I’m pretty predictable. If I was to describe my perfect foundation the words ‘sheer/medium coverage’ (ideally buildable) and the words ‘soft focus’ and ‘blur’ would all be in there. So the new-ish Benefit Hello Happy Foundation is right up my street – so if you like your foundation perfecting but also natural then read on.

The foundation comes in a cute-design lightweight bottle. With a smiley face on one side and the product name and shade details on the other. The packaging is quite simple, which surprises me for Benefit. They’re normally quite creative and quirky with their packaging designs.

Saying that, a strength of the package is that it’s super lightweight and ideal for travel. It has a small, delicate dispenser spout to make sure you don’t end up with too much. But it can come out quite quickly as it’s a light fluid.

Application and blending wise, it applies like a dream. Very light and easy to buff into skin. I found a small amount, maybe around the size of a thumbnail was enough to cover my face with what feels like a light coverage but in photos seems to come up as a really perfected and glowy base. The dream combination – feels and looks light and natural, but in photos delivers that perfection.

I am using shade 2. There are 12 shades in the range in total, that do appear to cover quite a spectrum, although 12 in general isn’t vast. As it’s fairly light/sheer, I suspect it might work for a range as a close shade match will suit more than the number of options might suggest.

I feel like this is a product that maybe hasn’t had the fuss or fanfare it deserves? Maybe I’ve just missed it but I feel like if more people tried it they would be loving it too. Well, you know – if they like a lightweight perfecting foundation. I know many life heavier bases rather than light ones but this is  a lovely lightweight base for those who prefer the more natural options.

I was given a sample card in store with shades 1,2 and 3 on it . Shade 3 was the best for my skin tone and from this tiny sample I’vebeen able to use it for 3 days, and it really does cover well. I’ve found it to feel light on my skin, applies well, doesn’t sit in my pores though I do use a primer and lasts well with a light application of powder. Pretty pleased with this foundation which is new to me as I have worked estee lauder for years
