Marc Jacobs Leopard Frost Collection

I’ve long been a total magpie for animal print (can you be a magpie for that?) Gravitating towards it for years, so it goes without saying that I immediately felt drawn to the new Marc Jacobs Leopard Frost collection – exclusive to Harvey Nichols in the UK.

Is it a collection that’s simply been repackaged in animal print?! Well, the animal print is the focus but the products themselves are pretty special too. Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palettes are very special. Not only is the outer packaging a sleek dream but the shadows are pigmented, smooth to work with and come in a range of shades right up my neutral-loving street. The colours in the Marc Jacobs Leopard Frost collection (available from Harvey Nichols) are no exception.

The eyeshadow palette is called ‘Flam(boy)ant’ and has seven shades in a range of golden/bronze/burgundy type of shimmers. Plus two matte shades in a brown and khaki shade. Particular favourites for me are ‘Hey Girl Hey’ a pale pinky champagne, ‘You Slay’ a shimmering burgundy and ‘Serving Up’ a golden shimmer. All gorgeous both in the palette and when used. So not just a pretty palette to look at.

The accompany the palette are a range of frost finish lipsticks. Now, normally, a frost finish would be the LAST finish I’d opt for, even going for a moisture-sucking matte over one of these. But you know what, the shades of these somehow seem to make it work more than I expected. That’s not to say I’m a total frost convert personally, but the texture is creamy and so comfortable to wear. Somehow the warm tone of the shade I tried (called ‘Just Peachy’) makes the frost sheen easier to wear. Whilst the colour is called peachy, I’d definitely describe it as a warm bronze instead. With a very distinct metallic/frost finish. I also have the shade Sugar Sugar, which is a pale nude. A gorgeous texture of lipstick but too pale a shade to work for my skin-tone.

There are five lipstick shades in the collection including one called ‘Frost Diva’ that looks like a pale pink frost that gives me flashbacks to my first experiments with lipstick as a teenager…

All in all, the palette is definitely the stand-out of this collection in my opinion. Stunning shades, perfect for Autumn/Winter and all housed in the worth-buying-just-to-stroke-the-smooth-pebble-like-packaging house with bonus of the leopard print…

Did I mention I am a sucker for all things animal print?!

I know Marc Jacobs palettes are amazing so I really want to grab one for myself, although I’m not a fan of this particular shade range.

You missed my fave bit. The shade names make a statement – inspired by RuPaul’s Drag Race this time. I can’t think of another brand that does this, and it’s such an elegant extra finishing touch.
