Summer keepers – The beauty products I’m sticking with into Autumn

I’m a creature of habit, so a lot of my beauty routine does tend to stay consistent as the seasons change. But then there are some things I tend to switch up as we go through the different phases of the year.

summer keepers

Whilst impending darker nights and colder weather (and let’s not mention rain…) aren’t my favourite things ab, when it comes to beauty there’s a lot I love about Autumn. Probably my favourite season for makeup looks, I adore short dark nails and anything warm and cosy is always a winner so any excuse for extra pampering on account of the weather… perfect.

However, as Summer ends (*looks at downpour outside and notes it’s LONG GONE*) there are a few Summer keepers that I’m sticking with as the weather changes. Either because I simply love them and don’t want to put them to the side or just because they work well for the new season.

REN AHA Smart Renewal Body Serum

This stuff has been fab for keeping skin feeling smooth over Summer and does a good job tackling those pesky upper arm bumps of Keratosis Pilaris. It’s a very light serum so not a full on moisturiser. In colder months, it’s good to keep something like this in the mix as it helps prevent dry skin build up which I find actually gets worse when I’m always bundled in layers.

Vichy Ideal Soleil After-sun In-shower or on dry skin

This s a recent addition as I took it away with me on holiday and just loved it so I’m sticking with it even if there’s no sun to use it after. This is a sort of oil feeling product, but not mega greasy. You can use in shower, where you apply to wet skin and gently rinse. It leave skin immediately hydrated and soothed plus it smells lovely. The smell reminds me of something from Bath and Bodyworks, but I can’t put my finger on which scent. But I figured dry skin always needs a hand so why not keep this in the mix for in-shower for Autumn.

St Tropez Purity Tan

I jumped back on the St Tropez band wagon earlier in the Summer and I’ve not looked back. I had a spray tan and they gave me some of the recent launches, including the new Purity Tan – a gel for body and a spray for face and it is absolute LOVE. Both are ideal for year-round as they’re so easy and low maintenance as far as a self-tan goes, and the gel for body feels really hydrating so ideal for Winter skin. Definitely both keepers for the new season.

Byredo Sundazed

Byredo Sundazed Eau De Parfum (£110 Liberty)

One of those perfumes you smell and it just won’t get out of your head. That’s exactly what happened with me and this. I first tried it when I was having a little browse of the Liberty Beauty Hall. It really is a true Summer fragrance and smells like warm towels, sunshine and holidays. But you know what, I don’t care. It’s love and it’s a keeper for year round. It might not feel like a Summer holiday but at least I’ll smell like one.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day in-shower styler (From £10 Harrods)

I am a big fan of easy/time efficient beauty products, and this is the hair equivalent of the Vichy in-shower after sun above. An in-shower hair styling product (yes really) that makes it SO easy to just wash and go with hair. In probably May-October I do tend to opt for air-dry rather than blow-dry hair styling. It works wonders on the condition of my hair and with the right products means I don’t totally sacrifice style. This was one I used almost EVERY wash of the Summer. A simple apply, lightly rinse out and as it dries it does with a bit of volume and texture so doesn’t feel flat and lifeless. Adore this as a lazy-girl Summer hair option for Summer that I know I’ll keep using even into Autumn as I’ll aim to let my hair dry naturally as often as I can.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios 50+ Shaka Fluid (£13.20 Feel Unique)

This is a really light but high protection SPF that works really well under makeup. I used it a lot over the Summer because it’s a tiny bottle it’s easy to just have in my bag for on the go. It has a slightly ‘powdered’ feel to it as it dries down, so if you like your SPF with no shine this is a winner. Just a gentle reminder that if you want to protect your skin from the damaging rays of the sun then SPF isn’t summer-only… so I’m keeping this one in the mix for the months ahead.

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask (£22.50 Cult Beauty)

Perfect for travel, or just a really great hydrating mask for skin year round. One of those ‘Instagram worthy’ brands but one that goes the distance. A lovely surge of moisture that anyone – jet set or sofa based – will welcome. Plus it smells good!

Summer keepers

bareMinerals Gen Nude Powder Blush in ‘Blooming Poppy’ (£23 bareMinerals)

The bareMinerals Gen Nude range is a gorgeous one if you like your makeup on the ‘you but better’ side. Earlier this year the brand launched a Limited Edition ‘Floral Eutopia’ range with a pretty pinky/purple floral print, a stand out from the range was this orange-terracotta shade of blush that sounds intimidating but on the skin gives that perfect ‘walk in cool fresh air’ blush glow. It’s a lovely colour and definitely one that will work a treat into Autumn.

That’s it for my round up of products I’m keeping into Autumn that I’ve loved all Summer long. I’m sure there are others and there are certainly many I love year-round! But tell me, do you switch it up with the seasons or stick to your go-to favourites year after year?
