London facials – three recomendations

Treatments marked with * provided complimentary as PR experiences.

When I first got into the world of beauty it was ALL about makeup. Things to mask imperfections, pretty colours and the stuff you put on your face to ‘cover’. Over the years my interest has very much turned on it’s head and now I really love all things skincare. From professional treatments to the routines I do at home. It really is true that looking after your skin make everything else a bit easier. Less need to cake on a base to cover-all, sometimes less need for a base at all. I’m quite happy in my own skin when I look after it. Alongside a routine at home, having regular facial treatments can really take the whole skincare obsession to the next level. So with that in mind I have three recommendations for London facials to try.

The Vaishaly Clinic – The Lifting Facial*

This is a fantastic facial if you have a special event. Not only does it create an immediate ‘lifting’ effect thanks to the use of massage and micro currents that stimulate the facial muscles (there are 43 muscles in the face alone, nice little fact for you there…). This is a facial you can walk out of feeling glowing and ready to face the world. Where a lot of the more ‘intensive’ facials these days might risk leaving you red faced and feeling like you might want to hide a little whilst your skin calms. This is the sort of facial you could do and go back to work and nobody would be staring at you… other than to notice you look refreshed and glowing. No bad thing.

The Vaishaly Clinic also offer a signature facial if you want more of an all rounder rather than the specific anti-ageing one. It’s widely regarded as one of the best in London.

The Face Place @ The Rosewood – Signature Facial*

The Rosewood Hotel has one of my favourite beauty spa destinations in London. Right in the heart of Holborn it feels like a little den of calm away from the chaos outside. So it’s understandable why The Face Place has made this their home away from Hollywood base in London.

The Face Place The Rosewood London

The Signature Facial here is a process. I’m talking step after step including a very Hannibal-Lecter type of mask (the mask isn’t just for a creepy Instagram moment – it has galvanic currents to help the products absorb deep into the skin).

Despite the intense process, this is still one of the most relaxing facials I’ve experienced and I’m pretty sure I did do an awkward snort-snore as I nodded off thanks to some soothing scalp massage…

Skinwork – At Alex Eagle Studio*

Tucked away in the heart of Soho is Skinwork. Located in the basement space of the Alex Eagle Studio (a very cool space in itself), down the spiral staircase you will find a little skincare loving space with treatment rooms which I found had some of the most flattering lighting?! Who knew that lighting through glass paving stones would provide the best facial lighting?!

This facial is one that will leave you with that Instagram-ready glossy skin. I still roll my eyes a bit at the whole ‘glass skin’ idea, but this is about as close to it as I think you can get. They have a whole host of options from post-party season detox or peels or deep hydration. Can you sign me up for all of the above please?! Also worth nothing they have mum-to-be signature facials too, as some treatments and products are off limits when pregnant this is always good to know.
