In the middle of winter it’s all too easy to just wrap up under layers of cosy clothes and forget about any of your skin from the neck down. Now, I’m not here to suggest a skincare routine with as many steps and stages as you might have for your face. But just a few little winter body care tips to get you through your hibernation without your skin getting too dry/tight/flaky.

No, I’m not saying you need to take twenty minutes applying layer upon layer of skin care to your whole body. But simply adding in a rich body oil such as the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil which you can apply directly to skin out of the bath or shower – focusing on dry areas like shins, elbows and knees. Then apply a lovely hydrating cream such as the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Body Lotion. This stuff is like magic and I am a little bit obsessed with it. It’s thick and creamy and smells like chocolate. Whilst it’s thick, it’s a bit like a body butter, but perhaps a little easier to work with? The texture is hard to describe but it sits on that perfect line between thick enough to hydrate but light enough to absorb. Applying both an oil and a body cream will give your body an extra dose of moisture and the lotion can feel like it ‘locks in’ the oil.

Hands and feet need a little extra care this time of year too. If it’s easy to forget your body, then the odds of your feet getting look in are slim. The easiest way to give them some care without spending time on them is the old gloves and socks trick. A pair of cosy socks and some light cotton gloves, apply the Hand and Foot creams generously (it doesn’t have to be all rubbed in as can be left like a bit of a mask) and then pop the gloves and socks on and off to bed. Let the creams work their magic and take their time to absorb and you wake up. Beauty treatments whilst you sleep is the ultimate winter body care win.

Using a little Cocoa Butter Formula Lip Balm for on the go in winter is perfect. I don’t just mean for lips either. It’s essentially a little balmy stick of moisture for wherever you need it. I use it on cuticles, or even a few little dabs under my eye area if it’s feeling dry and tight. Anywhere that needs a little help. If you have a dry nose after a nasty winter cold, it’s perfect for easing that too!

A trick I learnt from one of my fellow #PalmersSquad girls is that you can DIY your own bath bombs using a little of the classic solid from Palmer’s. Even just using it plain is an amazing way to give your bath a hydrating boost (just don’t add so much that you have to scrub the bath down too hard after!) a small scoop (talking a teaspoon) quickly rolled into a little ball and popped under hot running water. HELLO hydrating bath time. If you want you could roll in some dried lavender or similar to add a soothing fragrance, but personally I’m happy with just the dose of moisture at this time of year!
Just a few quick and easy winter body care tips to get us all through the cold dark days of winter. Before we know it, it will be Spring again!
