I knew as soon as I saw this collection on Instagram that it was going to be ‘a bit of me’ as the kids of today say (said in semi sarcastic old person tone). From the product shades to the packaging, it was all round appealing. The MAC Loud & Clear Collection is made up of matte translucent packaging housing a series of pink and peach type of shades from lip gloss, to lipstick and the two stand out pieces of the embossed highlighters that are the wow moment of the bunch.

I have a mixture of pieces I have purchased and some PR samples that have been sent to me to show you. So let’s take a closer look at the shades.
I knew I was going to be obsessed with the highlighter shades so I ended up buying both of them, including a double of one… so keep an eye on Instagram for a little giveaway soon. The shades of the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish are ‘Post-modernist Peach’ and ‘Hot Damn-oiselle D’Avignon’. Post-modernist peach is a pale peach with a cool toned sheen to it. Then Hot damn-oiselle D’Avignon is a warmer pinky peach shade, most easily likened to that of the infamous NARS Orgasm. The thing that really caught my eye about both of these is the embossing/3D ripple texture of the powder which looks like a close up of a feather. They’re gorgeous to look at and the shades are really pretty and flattering to wear.

The collection features five lipstick shades, five lip glass colours plus six single eyeshadows. Along with the two highlight shades I also bought one lipstick (Sugar Sweet Cameo) a lipglass (Heart Heist) and an eye shadow (Keep Stijl). I also then have samples of the lipglass shade Voyeur-is-me and the eyeshadow Trompe L’Ol.
The eyeshadows are all matte finish neutral shades. They give me ‘cool Parisian babe’ type of vibes. The matte pinky tones of Keep Stijl aren’t the sort of thing I’d normally opt for, but something about it really appeals. Even though it gives me slight flashbacks to a Rimmel London eyeshadow I had when I was about 14 that led to my friend’s mum asking if I had been crying when she saw me wear it… I am hoping my makeup skills might be a tad better than they were at 14…

The other eye shadow shade is an easy wear one – a pale sand nude called Trompe L’Ol. A matte and blending with the pink to help soften it works really well.
The two lipglass shades are both really lovely creamy shades. After a few seasons of being all about lipstick I am happy to see lipgloss making an appearance. Purely because it’s easier to apply on the go and less maintenance. As long as it’s not a windy day that is. Voyeur-is-me is a creamy brown toned nude and Heart Heist is a slightly dirty baby pink (in a good way).

The lipstick shade I chose (and just happened to be the PR sample too) is called Sugar Sweet Cameo and is a rosy pink in the bullet but has a slight terracotta type of shade to it when applied. It’s the sort of shade a few years ago I would have dismissed, but as my tastes change I find this sort of warm tone really wearable and this is already a firm favourite for me. It’s a matte finish, but doesn’t feel it at all – it feels really creamy to apply.
All in all this collection is a neutral makeup lovers dream. I love the clear matte packaging, still in the signature MAC shapes but just with a fresh take on it.
