Unite haircare is a premium/salon brand of hair products, including care and styling – it launched in the UK in 2010 (exclusively available in Harrods at the time) and is now sold online and through select salons. I was sent a selection of the products to try out, including the volumising shampoo and conditioner and ‘root energiser’ and ‘finishing spray’.
It was a mixed experience for me, I have a sensitive scalp and found that the shampoo and conditioner made my scalp a bit grumpy (flaky & itchy – nice) so I did stop using them – so I only have a couple of days experience with them to comment on so I can’t give these a comprehensive review. My hair did feel volumised but the conditioner wasn’t quite as moisturising as I need are my first impressions, putting aside the sensitive scalp thing. But as I said, these are just thoughts after a couple of days use before my sensitive scalp meant I had to stop using them.
On the other hand I have now been using the styling products for around a month and really like the root energiser. I find it really good at boosting volume, but without leaving residue/stickiness/crispy hair. It doesn’t leave hair crusty like some volumising hair mousses I have tried. I also really find the volume really lasts with this, even though it’s a very root-concentrated product.
The finishing spray is also good at boosting the volume and making it stick, this one does leave a bit of residue behind, but makes the volume long lasting. I’ve used this really good for holding styles that usually fall out of my fine hair in place, when I use straighteners to curl and a conical wand. I used this on a recent night out where I curled my hair and they curls were still in place at the end of the night – which is rare for my poker-straight hair.
So overall, if you need volume and don’t have a sensitive scalp – then give Unite a go. The root energiser is the stand out product for me.
