Holiday beauty loves

On my recent trip to Mauritius with LUX* resorts I was determined not to be that girl with the suitcase so packed that she couldn’t lift it herself… I mostly succeeded. I’m actually quite good at paring down the wardrobe options, but I don’t like to be without my favourite beauty bits, so that tends to be where I find it a challenge to stay within the weight limit… but here’s a look at some of the beauty (make-up) bits I took with me and loved…

Starting at the bottom left of the photo, the two mascaras – one, the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Intensifying* (available from Debenhams) one that I have been loving daily for a while now. It has a tiny brush so great for top and bottom lashes without the dreaded spider lash effect. It lasts all day, even in heat when normally I would end up with smudges on my eyelids. Absolutely adore this and will be re-purchasing when this tube runs out.

Then of course I wanted to take a proper waterproof mascara (the Bobbi Brown actually holds up in water, as long as you don’t touch your eyes – then it crumbles a bit) so I took my Clinique High Impact Waterproof*(Available from Debenhams). This is exactly what I want in terms of waterproof mascara, big fluffy brush, easy to apply and layer on and stays put on my eyes all day – even when snorkelling/swimming in the sea and rubbing my eyes.

For the face I took a couple of new loves – firstly, This Works In Transit Camera Close Up* (Available from SpaceNK). This is an AMAZING product for travelling with – this came with me in my hand luggage and was applied as soon as I took my seat for the 11hour flight. It’s a combination of a mask/moisturiser and primer all in one and I love it. It really hydrates skin, keeps it feeling soft but doesn’t leave it looking greasy at all as it has a velvety finish. If you usually like to apply a mask or something on a flight to prevent the almost inevitable dehydration but hate looking all shiny when you arrive – then this is for you. Just make sure you properly rub into skin, not just apply to leave on top as you would with a mask or else it can sort of flake a bit. It needs to be rubbed in properly.

Then there’s the new Origins ‘Smarty Plants’ CC Cream* (love the name of this…!) – currently exclusive to Selfridges – which I am also really loving and has become my go-to daily base in recent weeks. It has all sorts of amazing stuff for the skin in there, to help protect from pollution and colour correct at the same time and the overall effect is that you only need a tiny amount (great if you’re time-poor and don’t want to wear a full face of make-up in Summer) and it leaves skin looking more even and perfected than before, but still totally natural. Expect to see this one crop up a lot in ‘favourites’ posts in the coming months.

For anywhere where I maybe needed a little extra coverage I took my Bobbi Brown Corrector* (Available from Debenhams) with me – slightly pinker toned than my usual concealer so absolutely perfect for under eye circles. I also took Dr.Lewinns concealer* (Available from feelunique.com) too, because I really love this as a really fluid and hydrating concealer that works all over.

Then for colour I took the gorgeous Aerin Summer Palette* (which you can see in more detail HERE) because I love the combination of shades and they really are the perfect easy to wear for Summer combination. I especially made use of the shimmering champagne coloured shadow and the coral pink gloss. Then blush wise I took my favourite of the two Estee Lauder Cello Shots* (seen HERE) ‘Pink Patent’ for a natural flush that stays on even if I’m on the beach/in the sea. Then my current favourite bronzer – the YSL Terre Saharienne 01* (Available from Debenhams) from the YSL Summer Look (more HERE) it’s a lovely pale shade of bronzer that I find flattering and natural on paler skin.
