Summer Body Favourites

Summer might very well be coming to an end in the next few weeks, but as far as I’m concerned it’s still here and I want to keep that Summer feeling going for as long as possible! Over the last few weeks a few little Summer loves have been coming into my body-beauty routine…with everything from the not so fun essentials to the yummy smelling fun bits. So here’s a post dedicated to them!

Starting with the not so fun essentials, we have the hair removal contingent of the bunch. Starting with the Olay/Venus razor* – I love this, I love that it has the shave gel bar built in as it does leave skin feeling soft and smooth rather than stripped of all moisture. My only bug bear is that the replacement razor heads are really quite expensive. But they do a better job than the cheap disposables – so I guess I just have to suck that one up.

Then there are two little hair removal associates – ‘ingrow go’* and ‘hair no more’*, both from Skin Doctors. Ingrow go is about as un-glam as you can get with the hair removal process, but that doesn’t make it any less essential. Last thing you want on your bikini ready (or at least shorts-ready) body is to be ruined by pesky ingrown hairs. This stings like no-body’s business to apply, but does a great job at keeping hair follicles exfoliated. Then, a more recent addition is Hair No More – designed to help reduce regrowth and make the hair that does re-grow softer and finer. It’s early days, but so far I’m impressed – I’m pretty confident it’s making regrowth softer, so less of that ‘leg hair isn’t that bad, but the feel of stubble makes you need to shave them again’ sort of feeling. If you know what I mean…?!

So once the essentials are out of the way you can start using the yummy smelling fun stuff. Starting with something that I picked up recently and cannot stop sniffing – it’s literally Summer, bottled. That’s the ‘Beach Weekend’ shower foam from PINK at Victoria’s Secret. It literally smells of suncream, sunshine and happiness. If you could smell happiness that is of course. But seriously, this stuff smells SO good.

I’ve also been loving the new Rituals ‘Laughing Buddha’ range, I absolutely love the whole idea behind this range ‘In ancient China Laughing Buddha was a famous monk. With his legendary smile he brought happiness and fortune wherever he went. For centuries the ritual of rubbing his belly became a symbol for good luck and prosperity.’ The products have been designed to be ‘filled with optimism, bringing good luck and happiness’. Now I’m not quite silly enough to think that a lovely shower gel or scrub is going to make me lucky or something, but I do believe in starting the day our right and this one smells so lovely and fruity. It’s full of yummy mandarins and it smells good enough to eat. Plus this ‘Fortune Scrub’* from the range has that creamy scrubby element to it which I love. This is great for keeping skin feeling silky smooth.

Then the final touch to this trio of delicious smelling body treats is the Goji Berry Body Smoothie* from Montagne Jeunessse. Yep, the folks who make the sachet face masks branched out into lovely body treats too. This is another one that I like because it leaves me smelling good enough to eat. The scent doesn’t really last on the skin, so it doesn’t interfere with perfume or other fragrance but it is a joy to apply and leaves you all in all, feeling soft and smelling fab. It’s basically a lighter feeling version of a body butter so is really hydrating but not too thick or heavy at all. A happy medium for the Summer months.
