I’m rubbish at nail art. If I just manage to paint my nails one colour without it looking like a five-year old did it, then I am happy. So I rarely venture into the world of nail art in any way more complex than popping a glitter top coat over another colour. I recently tried out the new nail art tools for dotting from Topshop and even fail with something as easy as that. I ended up with random sized blobs rather than cute little polka dots…
But, my nail-art failures aside, the recent L’Oreal nail art session I attended was right up my street, no tiny detail painting, just ways to use glitter coats to create new looks – ombre style or all over the nail. Or as an alternative to french tips. Nice and simple! Plus it was a chance to check out their new AW colours, new false nail range and some new amazing glitters.
The stand out glitter has to be the confetti/rainbow one – it’s glitter packed and gorgeous. The rest of the colours are fairly typical, on-trend Autumn/Winter shades – with deep berry, rich reds, lush greens etc. Plus a pretty nude. The most unusual one would be the blue glitter which I love – now if only someone could invent a nail varnish remover that’s as convenient as those little ‘dip-pot’ removers…but takes of glitter in a swipe! My favourite colour combination was the nude, with the rainbow glitter ombre effect. Easy to do and really pretty.
For the false nails – L’Oreal are bringing out a new range and they’re something special. Rather than the usual rock-hard nails, these are a new sort of flexible nail. Designed to be more like real nails with a natural feeling bend to them. My favourite design was naturally the grey and turquoise one, with the black-tipped and the gold and black nails were my joint second favourite. There’s also a classic red and french tipped option in there for something more traditional.
There are also a couple of nail care products in there that I have been playing with and have been particularly wowed by the 2 in 1 Protect Base and Top Coat – it’s replaced my usual OPI Nail Envy as my nail protection of choice.
L’Oreal have also recently launched a new site- www.nail-art.com – totally dedicated to all things nail related, with new looks and tutorials frequently updated – well worth checking out.
PR samples received at event.
You can have so much fun with nail art. Personally I’m not so keen on the L’oreal wraps, I just don’t like the motif, but there are others from Nails Rock, Sally Hansen or Essie that are fab. Xx
Aaaaaah is all I can say to this!!! I love doing my nails, I’m not massively into nail art but I just love having different colours and glitter and sparkle on my nails and these polishes look incredible! I can’t wait to pick them up! 🙂 Thank you for showing us this, great post! x
