As I sit here typing away and listening to one of my all time favourite albums (which is Artful Dodger – It’s All About the Stragglers FYI… don’t judge) I am surrounded by the gorgeous and distinctly not early 2000’s Garage scent of the new Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede candle. It takes a lot to beat the chill-factor of a gorgeous scented candle filling a room with it’s fragrance and this is one that’s scent manages to fill the whole flat, let alone a single room.
It is very girly scent overall – the campaign images for this new launch are gorgeous, all dusky pinks lilacs and a hint of grey. With a very opulent old-school (as in Victorian, not like my taste in music) feel to them. A bit like a modern twist on the Marie Antoinette sort of thing…
The scent is a really floral one, which with Peony in the name is unsurprising – but then it’s slightly toned down with the addition of the suede scent – it’s hard to describe but essentially a bit of a powdery edge to it. It’s a very ‘pretty’ scent which is undeniably girly. I can see this being a scent to use for brides on their wedding days – or even to just have burning in the room where you get ready. There’s something that’s quite calming about it.
It’s also available in a cologne version too.
