Time for a bit of an apology as it’s been a lot quieter than usual on the blog over the past two weeks – really sorry, but lift has just been a bit hectic and I’ve been travelling a lot so I just ran out of time for posting or emails, or sharing anything insightful or interesting (ha) or pictures of my lunch or lipstick of choice on twitter/instagram… but I am getting back into the swing of things this weekend, catching up on posting, taking some more pictures, traipsing through my back log and catching up on emails. But the catching up on posting starts with this one about the Riri Hearts MAC collection.. which I picked up two items from when it launched at the start of the month.
I picked up two things from the collection, which was frankly silly as there was only one I actually wanted – the eyeshadow quad in the ‘Her Cocoa’ brown shades, but for some reason I find it hard to just pick one item so went for two and also took home the Bad Girl Gone Good blusher. Which online looked like a really pretty corally pinky shade but in practice I think is too orange for my skin tone and just doesn’t look very flattering at all. I’m debating with myself if there’s a way I can make it work but I just don’t think it suits my pale skin, which is a shame. It’s the first hyped-up product from MAC I’ve bought on a whim but has failed me!
But the thing that hasn’t failed me is the lovely quad that is now top of my list for easy neutral palettes that are easy to travel with. The shades are a golden champagne shimmer, an almost-matte, but slightly shimmering beige and then two browns – one more mid-brown with shimmer and another deeper brown/bronze shade. I love all four and they all deliver on pigment, smoothness and colour. My favourite shade of the four being the mid toned brown with shimmer (bottom left).
Also have to give a little mention to the pretty rose-gold packaging. I’m a bit surprised she went for something so pretty and didn’t want something bondage-leather look or maybe neon green with a nipple on top or something?!
I know this palette was really popular and sold out all over the place – I bought it online and used the Selfridges Click and Collect Service which I thought was fab. Meant I knew I’d get the item I wanted and could just pop in and collect when convenient – so didn’t have to pay a delivery charge. Happy days. Would definitely recommend as the service was so smooth and easy.
What did you pick up from the Riri Hearts MAC collection?!
