Relaxed wedding hair tutorial with Remington (& WIN)

A couple of months ago I was lucky enough to have some time with Remington’s celeb stylist and ambassador Chris Appleton (aka Rita Ora’s hair main man) to help me create a Relaxed Wedding Hair Tutorial. I’ve met Chris a few times before and he’s great – really creative and absolutely LOVES hair. Always keen to try something new or show you a new trick or two. So I used the time as the perfect chance to pick his brains about a potential wedding hair look – as I am braving it and doing my hair and make-up myself. I knew I wanted something ‘me’ and quite relaxed hair wise – but still a bit special and dressy for the day. So using the snazzy little Remington Ultimate Styler – which cleverly combines both a tong and a pair of straighteners in one he showed me step by step how to create the look below. Take a peek at the video, and then make sure you enter the competition to win one of 10 Silk Waving Wands for yourself!

A little word on the Ultimate Styler as used in the video – it’s a really great tool if you’re looking to create relaxed waves really easily. It has the same style of barrel (kind of flat version of a tong) plus the added benefit of the straightener function – so if you perhaps curl and don’t quite get the ends in and they look a bit too straight you can give them a quick tong to make them curl under to create a softer look. OR you could just use it as a handy two-in-one tool if you’re going away on holiday for example – curl and straighten with one gadget. Very handy.

Then, onto the hair look – I really love the overall effect of this look. I think it’s a lovely balance between polished and relaxed – personally I could never see myself with a fancy up do for my wedding as it’s quite rare for me to wear my hair up every other day, so would feel odd to do so. But I do want my hair to look good – my favourite bits about this look are the trick of alternating directions of curling the hair to create a very natural look with added volume (when you curl all the same way the waves/curls can end up sitting on top of each other and creating a smoother, more ‘Hollywood’ curl than I was looking for – this creates more ‘layers’ to the hair and more volume as a result). I also love that Chris showed me the perfect way to use a volumising spray I’ve been having some trouble getting the hang of – and now totally love. But more on this in another post.

This is a super style, love the colour too. It’s useful that your hair type and length seems very similar to my own, ie fine hair and lots of it. Below the shoulder in length. I’m just waiting for a hair appointment for colour, so may well try a ‘me too’ 🙂
