Every month when the beauty boxes land on the doorstep I have all the best intentions of getting my act together and posting on them quickly.. New Years resolution maybe? But, it’s not too late for these three and they all deserve a little mention (with a special shout out to Fleur De Force for her collab with My Little Box). So here’s a round up of the beauty boxes of December 2014…and which is my current favourite!
Birchbox December 2014*
This month’s Birchbox is an exciting one as Birchbox have collaborated with the awesome shoe designer Sophia Webster. The result is a party ready box full of lovely little treats. My favourite item actually has to be the little mint coloured pouch – which is very handy for stashing loose change and reciepts! Along with that we have a sparkly nail number from the Model’s Own Velvet Collection. The lovely HighBeam highlighter from Benefit (mini) an Eyeko Fat Black Eyeliner (easiest smokey eye ever?). Plus Electric Hair Hydrate Shampoo (mini), Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream (mini) and sample spray size of English Laundry Signature Fragrance.
Product wise, beyond the cute little pouch it’s actually a toss up between the Model’s Own and the Eyeko as to which is my top pick of the bunch. Both full sized and good products. I am always won over when a nail shade is included…
Overall: A great box with a little bit of everything from nails, to skin, to hair to make-up. A fun one from the box design to the contents. I like when there’s a mix of beauty and ‘other’ bits in there.
Glossybox December 2014*
Cute festive design for the Glossybox December 2014. With five contents it’s a mixed bag, but all geared towards the party ‘recovery’ rather than prep. Which is a nice twist as most beauty boxes tend to go party-party over pamper in December. First thing to catch my eye is the pack of the TRESemme Renewal Treatments, with four in the kit this is an impressive addition. As I’d probably have expected to only see one and probably be a bit disgruntled but to get all four as you would in store is great. Plus as a sucker for all things scalp this gets a thumbs up from me. The net thing to catch my eye was the Skin Pep Hydra Boost Serum. Since I am also a sucker for all things hyularonic this was exciting – a brand I’d never heard of but a product that definitely appeals. Will try this over Crimbo and see how it fares. Then make-up wise there’s a Concealer Quad for So Susan (have I seen this before in a Glossybox?) and a pretty shade of cheek and lip stain from Bella Pierre. Then lastly, the Zap! Zap! Gets That Chap day and night spot stick. I’m having a serious break out issue on my chin right now so this is basically right by my side until it clears up. Largely smells of tea tree and whilst I’m hoping will do the job… the only thing that makes me raise an eyebrow is that it feels a little icky to keep using same applicator on spots? Surely that’s not the best hygiene wise?! But still, will give it a whirl and see if it clears my breakout up.
Overall: I like that they have gone recovery over party. There’s quite a range of products so everyone will be getting a different box on this and can see some being happier than others. My top pick is the TRESemme treatment set – a definite plus. The thing I’d skip? The So Susan Concealer Quad.
My Little Box by Fleur De Force*
I’ll confess, My Little Box is the one that currently gets me really excited each month. But I have to say I almost feel bad including it in a beauty box round up as it really is more varied lifestyle than just striaght beauty. To see that the lovely Fleur – who is both a friend and one of my favourite vloggers – has collaborated on this one is really fun and exciting. The contents are just Fleur all over. From cute little DIY details of masking tape and Christmas lables and string (currently being used to hang Christmas cards in my living room) to the adorable beauty bits of L’Occitane moisturiser and Cowshed pampering body lotion. Then there’s a gorgeous bright lipstick from My Little Beauty (the own-brand beauty label from My Little Box that has the cutest packaging I’ve seen). Then as a final touch theres the cute grey with gold sparkle woolen headband and the My Little World Magazine – with Fleur looking gorgeous on the cover and giving me major hair envy.
Overall: A really fun collaboration and packed with fun and creative bits. Not for you if you’re a pure beauty lover, but if you love all things girly then My Little Box is definitely an exciting one to watch.
Ok, so I am probably a little bias but for December 2014 my beauty box top pick has to be My Little Box. It’s an exciting box anyway, but throw in a fab beauty blogger collaboration and it definitely gets the thumbs up from me. Overall I just love the style of My Little Box. Whilst the other boxes are fun, I think this one wins out this month. Which beauty box is catching your eye at the moment – are you subscribed (or have you been subscribed) to any of these ones?
