I’m going to make a little confession. I hope you’re sitting down for this… I have never tried a Yankee Candle before. I know. CRAZY right?! Once you have all picked yourselves up off the floor – I can also announce that this has all changed (as you can probably guess with the photo)… This is the Yankee Candle Pure Essence Collection and it’s a trio of quite classic scents that are also on the simple side.

The three fragrances are Cassis, Shea Butter and Aloe Water (not Aloe Vera as I keep going to write). As I type I have the lovely sweet Cassis one burning on my desk – I’ve burned each of these individually to get a proper feel for how the fragrance is when burning and if it really fills the room or is quite subtle. I didn’t want to burn them all together as you can’t really tell what each one smells like – although if you want to, go for it. It might just be a tad overkill on the fragrance front.
Cassis – A sweet but with a slightly sharp edge to it fragrance. I absolutely love this one and it reminds me of Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay. Fills the room well, but smells maybe a touch sweeter when burning than when you smell direct from the candle.
Shea Butter – A very creamy, clean smelling fragrance. If you like vanilla-type of scents then this will suit you. Manages to smell like a mix of clean and fresh and cosy and comforting. I also love that this is cream as it does go with everything…
Aloe Water – This is fresh and clean smelling. It reminds me of a fragrance I can’t put my finger on at all. It’s sweet and creamy but fresh all at the same time. This is one that I think would suit if you like green-tea like fragrances as maybe that’s the sort of thing it reminds me of. Maybe a mix of green tea and apple!?
These three fragrances are all just my sort of thing – fresh and clean and not too sweet. I’m not a fan of overly sweet scents at home so these suit me down to the ground. I’m also really excited to have finally popped my Yankee Candle cherry! I was checking these out in Boots the other day and basically found the options a bit overwhelming – but having discovered that these little ones are really lovely would be tempted to invest in a larger size. I genuinely can’t call which is my favourite of these three as they’re all really lovely ones.
Have you tried Yankee Candles – let me know what your favourites are? After talking Yankee Candle Wax Tarts with Zoe I really want to give one a whirl!

I love Yankee candles but have never tried any of these. I like the sound of the Shea Butter one as I really like homey types of scents like fresh linen. I’ll give it a try!
Same here, i really like cotton/fresh/clean smelling scents as i love how they make my home smell!
I really like Yankees and especially the Christmas and fruity ones. Although now I live in Doha, I mainly have Bath and Bidy Works ones as they’re far easier to get hold of.
Ah, so jealous you jave bath & body works! I love their stuff and spend ages in one when i was in san francisco last year!
I’ve never tried a Yankee either! The Aloe one looks so beautiful, I love that minty shade of green and it would look beautiful in my bedroom, plus I love green tea… you’ve kinda sold me on that one

I love candles, especially Yankee candles because they all smell so good. I’m currently using the shea butter one too:)
Hi ๐ I am big candle lover, my last shop was this weekend in TK MAxx and I picked up BAHOMA Indian Oddyssea (not sure about spelling, sorry). It smells so great – very fresh and clean, but unfortunately does not smell the room much. That’ s why I would probably fancy Aloe Vera the most of these three. Thanks for nice post, will try the Aloe Vera ๐

I am a Yankee Candle addict, and have a drawer stuffed to the rafters with them, but I have never tried any of these three, so they are now on my wishlist.
