Brows, brows, brows. Can you believe how much fuss there is on those fuzzy little face caterpillars?! Well, rightly so – as they really can make or break your overall look. Well, not sure your brows can really ‘break’ your face as such… but you get what I mean. A good pair of brows can be the real cherry on top of your make-up look. So getting them tamed and looking groomed as easily as possible is a top priority. Clearly beauty brands are agreeing as they are all falling over themselves to launch product after product to tame/prune/tint/fake brows and basically give you those Cara-esque arches in one fail swoop. Today’s post is a quick look at three options for brow tamers from Bobbi Brown, Benefit and Rimmel London. All similar concept, but different in practice.
Bobbi Brow Natural Brow Shaper *- Blonde (£16)
Available from John Lewis
The wand on this one and the Rimmel are almost identical. Large and quite cone-shaped. This is great if you have full brows, but if not then you need a fairly steady hand to avoid smudges over the actual shape of the brows. Colour wise this is great for blondes as it’s ashy but with a hint of warmth too it – not falling to much either way.
Benefit Gimme Brow *– Light/Medium (£17.50)
Available from Boots
The smaller wand of the three here. Means you have quite a bit of control over where you shape and add that touch of colour – great if you have smaller brows or to add some colour towards the narrow outer edges. Shade wise this is a great ashy but pale shade – creating the effect of adding the impression of a ‘shadow’, which naturally makes brows look fuller as makes it look like there’s shade where hairs are, even when they’re not. More natural in many ways than painting on fake hair…
Rimmel London Brow This Way * – Blonde (£2.99)
Available from Boots
Similar brush to the Bobbi Brown – quite large, but the cone shape does mean you can use the narrow end for more delicate application. This one is a bargain at just £2.99 but shade-wise it does fall down a little for me. It does seem to be a thing for the more affordable brands who offer a blonde brow option often tend to lean too far towards the warmer shades and almost hit ginger. Which will be great for red heads, but many blondes want that grey/shadow shade rather than ginger brows. Rimmel also do a clear option though, which is fab if you just want to tame and not bother with the tint – especially at just £2.99.
