CEW Demo Eve – Top Picks

For those that may not know, CEW is the Cosmetics Executive Women, an organisation that was designed to bring the cosmetics industry together in a not for profit environment. Through the year CEW hold a number of events but the star of the show is the CEW Beauty Awards, which are proceeded by the infamous CEW Demo night…

Now, a word about the CEW Demo night – it’s the thing of beauty legends. I’d heard about it for years before I had the chance to go along and experience it for myself this year. Rumour had it that it was more chaotic than a Mulberry sale with 90% discounts… I’ve hear elbows are an essential and it was a case of a real life ‘smash and grab’ type of scenario.

Well… CEW have made some changes to the event and it’s actually rather civilised now! The set up was a series of seemingly endless tables with different brands and products represented at each one. All categorised so they’re with the other products in their own area (Premium fragrance, Organic etc…). It is still quite overwhelming to be faced with that many brands but was really lovely to see such a mix of brands (and faces) I knew, and some new brands I hadn’t heard of before.

The purpose of the Demo evening is to showcase all the products that have been entered into the CEW Beauty Awards for that year. The entrants are then able to head off and given them a whirl before they can vote for the overall winners. The finalists for the 2015 CEW Beauty Awards have just been announced this week. But before the list of the finalists, I thought I would pick out what were my picks from the rather overwhelming goody-bag given to attendees of the DEMO evening.

On the goodybag, it’s quite important to note that not all the entrants were in each bag – it just wouldn’t be possible. You would need a truck to take that lot back. In all fairness, the bag was INSANE as it is – I genuinely struggled to carry it. So in all honesty I wasn’t sure where to start when it comes to blogging about it – so I decided to tell you a bit about the experience of the CEW Demo evening and then share my little edit of the bits I had in my bag that are my top picks…

Bourjois Hands & Feet Nail Polish Remover: An absolute staple for me. In fact, when I went to take photos of this I realised I already had two in my life already. One on my desk and a back up in my nail drawer. So simple, so genius all in one. I don’t think I’ve used cotton wool to remove varnish since this came into my life…so good for the environment too?!

Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster: Probably one of the best launches of the past year. Another simple but genius idea – customising your own tan by just adding drops to your regular moisturiser!? There’s no way this one can’t be the winner of it’s category in my opinion!

Bee Good Cleansing Water: A fresh and effective variation on the micellar water trend. I basically picked this one because I love the fresh scent of it and find it lovely to use first thing in the morning as is a great wake up call.

Shay & Blue Blood Orange: I just can’t resist the smell of Blood Orange! I just love how sweet but fresh it is and this is really a lovely version of it. Plus the size of this fragrance won me over – perfect for travel. Whilst Shay & Blue is a finalist with the fragrance Atropa Belladonna, I personally love this one.

Deborah Lippmann The Cure: I’ve talked about this one before, I’m a big fan of all things cuticle-cure related and as this was one of my favourites of 2014 I had to pick it. This is still a staple on my desk so had to pick it out as one of my picks.

Louise Young LY34 Foundation Brush: This is a beaut of a brush. Sitting somewhere in between the flat foundation brush and the domed buffing brush. Offering more of a point than a buffing brush, but not the flat ‘painting’ style brush. If you don’t have this in your brush arsenal, then I’d totally give it the thumbs up. It’s a special one and I’m happy to have discovered via CEW!

Melvita Plumping Radiance Duo: A rosewater and oil blend that is spritzed on to the skin and manages to be both hydrating and refreshing at the same time. I’ve totally fallen for this – as someone who already loves oils, having a way to deliver oils in a way that is mess free, lightweight and leaves skin glowing is an all round win. If you have dehydrated skin or going through a dull phase, get this.

But those are just my picks of the selection I took home after the CEW Demo Evening.Want to know which brands have made the final… I’ve marked the ones I call for winners with a little ^… just for fun! (unless I’ve not tried any from the category then have left it blank.

Glad you love the Shay & Blue Blood Orange perfume! I am mad about this perfume! Really really love it! I usually have fresh & clean scents, a little bit of light citrus/flowery. Sth like elizabeth arden green tea, clinique happy, carolina herrera 212 lines, salvatore ferragamo incanto dream. Sth like these. But the blood orange is so different & just Wow!

Btw, cant wait to read about ur review on the rest of the beauty items you show here.
    Have a good weekend!
