Essie Retro Revival

I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve got that proper blogger buzz about an Essie collection… but it’s a pretty awesome as this collection has well and truly given me that spark. This is the Essie Retro Revival collection and it contains six shades that span the history of the Essie nail offerings since it first launched in 1981. SIX shades from the ‘colour vault’ – including the rather special Starry Starry Night.

The six shades from left to right are:

Bikini with a martini – a frosted sheer pink from 2006.

Sequin Sash – A sheer nude/bronze with silver glitter from 2005.

Life of the Party – A classic rich red wine with subtle shimmer from 2002.

Cabana Boy – Pearly white with a hint of purple grey from 2015.

Starry Starry Night – Midnight blue with twinkling silver glitter from 1997.

Birthday Suit – Sheer classic nude from 1981.

The really special one that everyone in the US has been going a bit nuts for since it launched is Starry Starry Night…which I believe sold for a silly amount on ebay?! People wanted it THAT much. It’s a tough call between that one and Cabana Boy as to which is my favourite from this collection. I was won over by Cabana Boy when I spotted it on Kate from Kate La Vie when we caught up over hot dogs recently – it’s a gorgeous colour, I have always been a sucker for anything lilac/grey tinged but this one is a little unusual to my existing collection with the subtle pearly sheen. Very pretty and top contender for the shade of Spring 2016 for me.

OF course I do also love the gorgeous Starry Starry Night as it’s a blue and we all know how I feel about blue nail colours.

Of the others, I think Sequin Sash would look lovely layered over another colour. I don’t love Bikini With A Martini… as it’s just not my sort of colour. Birthday Suit isn’t wildly exciting, but is a classic nude for a polished natural look and I love that it’s from the original colour selection.

Which is your favourite from the Essie Retro Revival collection?!
