I’ll admit it, I was a tad sceptical when I first heard about these. I thought they might be a tad novelty but not all that great. But I am sold. These are the new Lancome Juicy Shakers and they’re essentially oil and pigment that you shake up and apply with the chunky sponge applicator to the lips to deliver a wash of colour and moisture at the same time. I have three shades here to play with and they really are a little taste of Summer already…
So the three Lancome Juicy Shakers shades I have are: Apri-Cute, Great-Fruit and Mangoes-Wild. All fruity shades and I am a sucker for a cute name… The shades are shown left to right in the above photo – so an orange with slight shimmer (Apri-Cute), reddy orange (Great-Fruit) and Pink (Mangoes-Wild). On the Apri-Cute one you can see the little ball thing that’s in the liquid to help mix up the pigment and the oil.
The colour these give on the lips is more of a sheer wash rather than solid lipstick like colour, more pigmented than the famous Lancome Juicy Tubes but not as intense as a ‘proper’ lip colour. They’re a great every day option. My favourite thing about them is that application feels a bit like rubbing your lips with a strawberry… does that sound weird?! Well…. look at it. Plus the juicy flavouring and texture and it really does. Very unique applicator but actually really easy to use – I wasn’t sure when I first saw it but the shape and the sheer pigment work well together and it feels really comfortable to apply.
In the photo above I’m wearing the Lancome Juicy Shakers in Mangoes-Wild, which is my favourite of the bunch and the most ‘obvious’ pigment one in terms of photos. So the best one to showcase. This one will be coming away to Florida with me as it’s perfect for a light, hydrating on the go wash of colour when you don’t want to go full-on lipstick.
Sure, the whole ‘shake it’ thing is a tad novelty but in actual fact these are a lovely lightweight lip product and a refreshing change from the everlasting stream of matte lip colours too! I quite fancy trying out the bold looking ‘Berry in Love’ shade too – it looks pretty. There’s also a minty one I’d be tempted by as I do have a thing for anything mint flavoured!
