Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara Review

I used to absolutely LOVE Bourjois mascaras, they were always my go-to for high street brands. Then over time, in the fickle way us bloggers do, something else caught my eye and I moved on to trying other things and my love for Bourjois mascara sort of fell by the wayside. Then last week I was having a bit of a beauty play and a package with two new Bourjois mascaras arrived. The Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara includes a waterproof and a non waterproof option and perfect timing of taking photos/wearing no make-up collided for me to give these a go as they landed and you know what – they’re ace. Let me tell you and show you…

So these are both designed to be all about volume  and come in a ‘Radiant Black’ and waterproof versions. The packaging caught my eye immediately with the triangle style tube that reminded me a bit of those handwriting pens they used to have in Primary school? The best bit of the packaging though being that one side has a decent sized mirror. Why hasn’t someone done this before for mascara? SO handy and can apply whenever without needing to try and hold tube/wand/mirror in some sort of octopus lady make-up application thing. Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara Review

Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara Review

The wand on the new Bourjois Volume Reveal is exactly my sort of wand preference. A fluffy style brush but not *too* massive and fluffy. I much prefer this style of wand to a big fat one or one with the comb style bristles. Minimal eye-poking potential.

The formula is really dark and well pigmented and delivers a good amount of coating to the lash. Definitely adding volume (thickness) over really significant length to the lashes. The lashes are all evenly coated and look thicker from root to tip so naturally manage to look longer. But not hitting that ‘false lash’ length sort of level.

I love that this mascara launch includes a waterproof version. I am finding myself using waterproof mascara almost daily at the moment because it prevents any smudging on to my upper lids. Which always seems worst in Summer?! Maybe the humidity? Either way, a waterproof version is hitting the spot on that front.

Let me know what your favourite affordable mascara is in the comments -it’s a product that’s an absolute essential for me (I’m typing this totally make-up free…other than mascara. Just can’t go without) so always love to get recommendations on favourites and the best ones that don’t break the bank.

I hear you about the smudging. I’ve always got panda eyes, but find waterproof mascara’s very drying. Have you tried Estee Lauder mascaras? They seem to help a bit http://www.indigoandmouse.blogspot.com

So frustrating isn’t it! I’m determined that it’s the weather and not that my eyelids are sagging yet…!

Sounds like such a great mascara! My favourite drugstore mascara has to be the Physicians Formula Jumbo Lash 🙂

Ooh, where do you buy it from? The US or online?

Lovely review! I used to love Bourjois mascaras as well! And I do believe that the humidity over the summer months makes the smudging a lot harder to avoid, I always have them on my upper lids as well, so annoying!
