It’s that time of the month where the beauty boxes are being shipped – and much like magazines in Summer, they tend to up their game with the goodies (just have a look next time you’re in a magazine aisle and spot the freebies being offered…). The first of my posts on beauty boxes this month is the UK Birchbox August 2016 which is actually a Birch-bag rather than a box… as it includes a little neoprene dove-grey pouch with neon zip that comes in various colours (there’s a mint one I love the look of and actually considered making an order just to try and get that one…the love of turquoise is real). But it’s not ALL about the bag… also about what’s in it. Which I shall be getting on to…. right now…
The bag contains a great mix of Summer-essential type products. In my bag I found the following:
Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo (50ml) – Probably my favourite dry shampoo as it doesn’t leave my scalp feeling clogged in the same way as others do.
Anatomicals The Buff Stuff Citrus Body Scrub (50ml) – I’ve always had a soft spot for this brand and this stuff does smell fantastic. Perfect for a little trip away where you don’t want to lug around a massive bottle of scrub when you might only use it once or twice.
Marcelle Waterproof Eyeliner (0.8g) – Not heard of this brand before but I like aubergine/mulberry shade and love that it’s a waterproof one.
Merci Handy Hand Sanitiser (30ml) – I pretty much always have a little bottle of this stuff on me (the combination of two dogs plus tube travel makes it basically an essential) so this was a welcome edition. It smells nice and really reminds me of the little tubes I usually pick up from Bath & Bodyworks in the US.
English Laundry Pour Femme Fragrance (2ml) – A teeny vial of fragrance, smells lovely (reminds me a little of Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh) and good if you’re really packing light for a trip and don’t want to take a full perfume bottle.
Balance Me Radiance Face Mask (15ml) – A good size for a one off face mask product. Maybe two if you’re a bit tight with the application. This is a creamy scrub/mask combo so you could use as a scrub if you wanted a quick fix over a 10-min sit there and wait session. The creamy base is lovely to this so won’t leave skin feeling stripped.
A good all rounder selection of face/body/hair/make-up which always makes me happy in a beauty box. I love to see a good cross section of all aspects of beauty and the Birchbox August 2016 definitely ticks that box. A great box if you’re thinking of signing up to start with. Nothing here that I won’t use at all. My least-likely to use is probably the fragrance – it does smell great, but the size and packaging just isn’t that practical. My favourite has to be the Philip Kingsley One More Day as it’s already a favourite of mine and love a travel sized bottle. So handy.
