Clinique’s Chubby Sticks have long been one of my favourite launches. Crayon that are also make-up? What’s not to like. Anything that makes make-up easy and speedy to apply always gets a thumbs up from me. So when I heard that Clinique had teamed up with the original Crayon connoisseurs I was immediately sold. How fun that there are actual Clinique make-up crayons that are based on classic Crayola colours?! A little peek at the shades in the Clinique Crayola collaboration.
There are eight shades in the whole collection. All in varying ‘safe’ shades for lips – no scary lime green or bold blue. Well, not yet at least…maybe that’s the next step?! The shades are (left to right in line up)
- Brick Red
- Wild Strawberry
- Mango Tango
- Pink Sherbert
- Fuzzy Wuzzy
- Red Violet
On name alone, Fuzzy Wuzzy is my favourite. However the only niggle I have on these (and ver much personal preference) is that some shades have a touch of shimmer to them. I find this is somewhat less than flattering on my lips than a creamy colour so tend to opt for the shades without shimmer in them. Below with the swatches I’ve noted which have shimmer and which don’t.
Left to right: Brick Red, Wild Strawberry, Mango Tango**, Melon, Mauvelous, Pink Sherbert**, Fuzzy Wuzzy**, Red Violet.
The ones with a ** next to them have a bit of a shimmer to the shade.
Like most of the Clarins Chubby Sticks there’s a real range of intensity in the pigmentation. Some more bold (Brick Red and Red Violet) and others more sheer. My personal favourite shade has to be Mauvelous (closely followed by Melon) which is a lovely blend of just enough pigment but not too much. Makes it so easy to wear as an on the go colour. I do love Fuzzy Wuzzy for name but shimmer just doesn’t flatter my lips when they tend to be a tad dry. I do also love the two darker shades in the gang – as if you want a bolder colour that shows these are for you.
