As a self-confessed TOTAL beauty junkie, it’s hard to narrow down my beauty favourites to an edit of just 5 makeup must haves. That’s it, just 5 absolute essentials – those products you just can’t live without.
When I want to narrow down my essentials the first I think of is mascara. In fact if I had to narrow down to one, that would be it. Whoever it was that invented mascara deserves many many medals.
The new NYX Professional Makeup Worth The Hype Mascara offers everything I look for. A fluffy, but not too huge brush. A dark formula that’s wet enough to layer up but not so wet you risk smudging. Since I had my lash extensions removed I’ve been rediscovering the joy of mascara again and really appreciating the paring of a great mascara with a classic black liner. Adding that feline-flick lash line to the upper lid adds an extra bit of definition to make the eyes stand out.
Speaking of making features stand out – this is pretty key to the decision on which would make the cut of my five essentials edit – I tend to choose a key feature I want to focus on. For me I am usually torn between the perks of a bold lip (I love a bright red or pink lip with simple lashes and liner only eyes) OR a bronze smokey eye. A bronze smokey eye is probably the most universally flattering colour option and this NYX Ultimate Warm Neutrals Palette is the thing of nude-shadow dreams. The shade range is comparable to a few higher price point brands out there but seriously fantastic value for money, with a mix of day to day, easy to wear colours – plus the option to add a bit more drama if you fancy it.
As for my other essentials in a five product edit? I’d have to go with a great concealer. One of my all-time go-to options is Fake Up from Benefit as a really hydrating option for under the eyes which is where I tend to need the most concealing. Then my final pick – and this is a tough one – would be a bold lipstick. It was a tight decision between a bright lipstick or a classic nude shade instead. But I decided that with a neutral palette, adding a bold option in there can increase the variety. Plus if I’m feeling really clever a lipstick can be used to add a pop of colour on the cheeks or applied with a finger to add a sheer version of the colour if looking for a subtle option.
What I’d love to know is – What beauty must haves would be on your list from the NYX collection and why?

That NYX mascara has replaced my much more expensive Too Faced one, I love it!
NYX Professional Makeup Epic Ink Liner – perfect colour and very easy to apply! Will be wearing to my cousins wedding tomorrow.
I’m so impressed with this eye liner. So pigmented and easy to use as the nib bends just the right amount.
NYX Angel veil primer and the butter lip gloss! X
Ooh this primer sounds amazing. I love the butter lip gloss, best affordable lip gloss I’ve tried!
My must haves start with the eyes. So i would go for the worth the hype waterproof mascara. Then the vinyl black liquid eyeliner for a wing eye and the NYX professional dark circle cream concealer to brighten my eyes up. Lastly, their nude lip liner with the candy slick lip gloss in sugar coated kiss.
I’d love to try the warm neutrals palette, I really like the look you did! 🙂
Love the NYX mascara, stopped using Benefit in place of this
I’ve been so impressed with their blushers, really great pigment and lasts so well!
It definitely has to be there mascara, it’s the best I have ever found and I’ve certainly tried a few over the years.
I love the NYX skin products too – the primers and the concealer are amazing!
My NYX essential is their glitter glue – it’s fab for all us magpies who can’t get through the week without a bit of sparkle. Even lasted during the rain at the Spice Girls concert which was especially important!
The Warm Neutrald palette looks beautiful.
I love the nyx micro eyebrow pencil – I buy it on repeat!
I love the velvet matte lip creams, or their eye shadow pencils for an easy grab and go eye look.
The total control drop foundation, I’d love to finally achieve that airbrushed look!
The NYX Worth The Hype Mascara. I love mascara and once I find a good one I stockpile it! I love how a quick coat of mascara makes me look wide Awake
Easily, The NYX Born to Glow Illuminating Powder. I have such dry skin and seriously lack any sort of glow but this gives me a glow from within look and for me, it’s a beauty must have!
The Glitter Goals quads are right at the top of my NYX must-haves list at the moment! 🙂

Well now I need that palette! But I’ve also got my eye on the wonder pencil, got to love a multiuse product!
I love the look of the eyeshadow palettes. They always look so pigmented when I’ve seen them in person, and have great colours. I particularly love the warm shaded ones as they suit me the best. I would really love to own one!
I love a good, not too expensive mascara!
You have to try the combination of the micro brow pencil and control freak eyebrow gel, gives the most naturally defined brows that won’t budge, best things from NYX that I’ve tried to date!
NYX do such lovely concealer + powder.
