Clinique Take The Day Off

This is one of those products I’d put firmly in the ‘cult classic’ type of product category. Funnily, enough it also always used to be one that Clinique didn’t seem to want to shout about, it was there but never prominent on the display counter. Usually tucked away. But then I think the rumours of awesomeness spread and it became a brand hero product.

There’s actually a whole Take The Day Off range, the eye makeup remover in particular is really nice too. But in my opinion, the balm really is the star of the show.

Just in case you haven’t tried a balm for cleansing/makeup removal before. Let me give you a quick low down. A balm cleanser starts out as a thick, balmy (as a clue in the name…) texture. You take a scoop and apply to the face and massage all over. Allowing the balm to melt and this helps dissolve makeup and dirt. Then you add some warm water and the texture emulsifies down to a milky consistency liquid and rinses away. I tend to use a flannel at this stage to make sure I remove the balm properly and give skin a touch of exfoliation at the same time.

I love either a balm or oil cleanser as the makeup removing step of a cleanse. It really feels like it gets every last drop off and this one is one of the best for clean rinsing. I do like having another cleansing step too, the good old double cleanse is a classic for a reason.

As a first step, the Clinique Take The Day Off Balm is bloody brilliant. It can take your face off without stripping all moisture and if you did want to stop at the one step you at least know you had all the makeup removed.
