Marc Jacobs Daisy is definitely a classic fragrance in my opinion – I highly suspect it will be one of those ones that in years to come we will be telling our kids/grandkids ‘Ah, Daisy…I used to wear that when I was your age…’. I for one am an absolute lover of the Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh variant – it’s one that I just can’t get enough of – and literally want to inhale lungfuls of it each time I have a sniff. Then of course there are the other members of the family… Lola, Dot and Honey… all nice, but never quite hit the spot for me in the same way that Daisy did. So to hear (and smell) that the Daisy club has a new member… I’m pretty excited. This new member is Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream – and it is indeed dreamy.
I also have a bottle of this gorgeous scent to giveaway (courtesy of World Duty Free Stores – where the fragrance is exclusively launching on June 13th ahead of the nationwide launch on July 15th. So have a read, then visit the bottom of the post to find out how to win.
Starting with the campaign – shot by Sophia Coppola it’s a whimsical, ethereal shoot of pretty girls wafting about through sun-drenched fields. It’s pretty and makes me wish I could throw on a tiny slip dress and lie in long grass without a care in the world. Not sure it has quite the same effect in Regents Park… but still – the campaign definitely evokes a feeling and really give the ‘Daisy girl’ a personality.
But pretty videos and pictures aside – on to what matters:
how pretty the bottle is how the fragrance actually smells. It’s pretty- and fresh. To me, it’s basically a slightly more grown up version of Daisy. On first sniff it’s very much like Daisy the original – quite sweet but fresh, with perhaps a touch more fruitness to it. Where Daisy Dream gets interesting is the dry-down – that’s where I think it smells the prettiest – definitely capturing the light and airy feel.
Notes wise the top notes are blackberry, grapefruit and pear (yum). Heart notes of jasmine, lychee and blue wisteria. Then base notes of white woods, musks and coconut water. Where the original scent has Strawberry and Grapefruit top notes, Gardenia, Jasmine and Violet heart notes and Musk Vanilla and White Woods. So the two fragrances do share some similarities – but I feel like Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream has a touch more light freshness to it. So I can see this suiting anyone who maybe felt original Daisy was a touch too sweet – this is fresher and definitely a touch more grown up, without taking it too much older all all.
Then of course there’s the gorgeous bottle – isn’t it a stunner? It reminds me of fluffy clouds in a blue sky! I love the Daisy design and love how it’s flush to the bottle – mostly because it looks lovely, but also because it’s so much easier to store than the giant Daisy-adorned lids of the other versions!
I have a suspicion this one is going to be a very popular fragrance overall! I was even told I smell nice by someone I met for the first time today…always a plus (and definitely better than the opposite happening!)
