You have probably already seen all the campaign images for this new fragrance as they caused quite the stir in the blogging world…featuring Cara and Kate. Probably two of the most recognisable, only need a single name to know who I’m talking about models. Not only are they photographed together in a campaign for the first time, but also – they’re somewhat scantily clad in just the classic Burberry trench and getting cosy. With the gorgeous campaign images being captured by Mario Testino.
The bottle is very much dressing table worthy. A big chunk of glass, with the golden ‘My Burberry’ swirling across the front. Topped with a cream tortoiseshell cap and a soft shade of ribbon that captures the colour of the classic trench. Wrapped around a metal neck that has the traditional Burberry check embossed. But then it is Burberry, so you know it’s going to look good.
But a fragrance isn’t about how it looks really (although it helps) it’s about the scent. The scent is described as being ‘inspired by London, the urban jungle’ a fruity floral scent with top notes of Sweet Pea, Bergamot and Mandarin Orange. Heart notes of Geranium, Freesia and Quince and base notes of Patchouli and Rose. The overall result aiming for something that captures the scent of a London garden after the rain.
For me, the scent is one that is definitely one that grows on you when on the skin. The initial sniff gives something quite sweet and floral, but as it dries down something a bit softer comes through which is when it captures my attention the most. On first sniff, I didn’t think it was one I’d really enjoy all that much. But on wearing it for an hour or so, I really like it.
In my opinion it’s a good every day fragrance where you want to smell good of course but maybe soft enough that people just think you naturally smell lovely rather than you’re wearing a lovely fragrance. If you get what I mean. A day to day, easy going fragrance that does have a side of London-cool to it.
