Travel & beauty – two of my most favourite things. How has time flown so much that it’s already been a few weeks since my trip to Paris with Caudalie!? Time flies and all that jazz. Well a few weeks ago I zipped over to Paris on the oh-so-convenient Eurostar for a fabulous whistlestop trip to the wonderful city of Paris. To both celebrate Caudalie’s 20 year anniversary and the launch of the gorgeous new store in the Louvre (who knew there’s a whole shopping centre there, not just a huge museum!?) plus some amazing Parisian experiences to boot.
First things first, can I just take a moment to marvel at the wonder that is Parisian style?! Seriously. Ok, like any city – not every single person is a stylish fashion muse. But the launch party for the Caudalie store was teeming with fashion inspiration from wall to wall. I wish I had been more focussed and taken some covert photos to share so you could see what I mean. But honestly, the french know how to dress. Always perfectly casual whilst also being dressed up and of course NEVER looking like they tried to hard. Eugh. Effortless style at it’s best. If only I could work the sky-high heels, sequin skirt and chunky knit jumper in the same way as one of the girls I saw there.
But anyway, back to the fabulous Caudalie trip – it really was such a fantastic couple of days. After arriving we headed out to lunch at the very glamorous Monsieur Bleu – where the black cod was almost as good as the waiters looked. If you like a side of eye candy with your lunch then this is the place to go. Oh, and along with hot waiters it also has lovely views of the Eiffel Tower.
Following that we did something really special and had some guided tours around Paris in these vintage (as in real vintage, rickety doors and all) Citroen 2CV cars and whizzed around the streets of Paris. Easily the best sightseeing tour I’ve ever experienced – with a lovely tour guide who was absolutely full of Parisian knowledge and took us to all sorts of famous sites and little side streets. Stopping where he could (or where he dared) so we could get out and have a closer look. I opted to do the ‘undiscovered Paris’ tour and would wholeheartedly recommend.
After a quick refuel with the most amazing cakes in Angelina it was back to the hotel to spruce ourselves up for the launch event at the Louvre and then some drinks and nibbles in the amazingly named ‘Le Ballroom de Beef’. Who wouldn’t want to go to a ballroom of beef?! Well, maybe a vegetarian… but still. The name had me curious alone – and when we got there (via unmarked black door and down a spiral staircase) we were greeted with a very cool speakeasy type bar. Dark lights, couples canoodling in corners etc. It was everything I wanted a cool Parisian bar to be – and it did amazing snacks (think plates of cured meats and selections of creamy cheeses) plus a concise but delicious cocktail menu. One to make a note of if you’re heading to Paris for sure. Definitely the sort of place that likely only gets better as the night goes on.
The next day, the weather wasn’t quite as kind to us as the day before – which wasn’t exactly a bad thing as we each had an appointment for an hour of pampering at the Caudalie store in Le Marais. Oh boy what an hour of pampering it was. I opted for a facial as my skin is in pretty desperate need of some TLC right now so it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I’d also been along to the Covent Garden store in London and treated myself to a body treatment (the crushed cabernet scrub FYI) already so wanted to see what the facial option was like. It was amazing, and yes I totally dozed off. But I was left with my skin feeling clean and fresh but still hydrated and glowy. Perfect.
And as a pretty but nod of approval – when I look at my current skincare line up a significant chunk of it is some favourites from Caudalie. Including the new oil cleanser (smells of almonds and is delicious) plus a few other long time favourites. I’ll save that for another blog post though!
Thank you Caudalie for whisking me away to Paris, I had an amazing time. It was the perfect reminder of why I love Paris and now I’m itching to book myself a return trip.
I was a guest of Caudalie for this trip.
