Back in Jan I did a post about the beauty bits I had been reaching for that month – sort of like a favourites, but more with a few ‘old staples as much as the new-in things I’d been trying. So now it’s the last day in Feb, it’s time for an update – what have I switched up and what are the constant favourites this time around?
As a little refresher, you can either take a peek back at the products I was loving back in January or take my word for it that a few of these have been switched up (which a few have stayed the same). This month’s most-used include:
Base: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer * , Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk * (4), Burberry Cashmere Concealer * (Porcelain 01)
As much as the Becca Glow-Giver & the Dior Forever primers I mention in my Feb Faves video (here) is loves of mine. I’ve been nearing the bottom of the bottle of the Becca and not every day calls for long lasting foundation, so I have also regularly been re-reaching for the classic from Laura Mercier. It’s nicely hydrating and just smoothes everything out before applying the base. It was tough to really choose which foundation I’ve been loving this past month as I’ve tried SO many. As I mention in my favourites video, the Dior has been one I’ve used a lot but as it’s a more long lasting one, it’s not an every day option for me. So on stay at home or more casual days when I’m not quite running around like a headless chicken… I’ve been absolutely loving this Giorgio Armani Lumunious Silk Foundation. Can you believe it’s only one I’ve tried for the first time recently. It’s a beauty – glowy, blends and just leaves skin looking perfected and healthy but not caked in make-up. LOVE. Burberry Cashmere Concealer could very well be my favourite under eye concealer ever – light, but brightens without just adding a load of reflective shine. Doesn’t crease into lines. All round thumbs up.
Eyes: Too Faced Shadow Insurance (original), Bobbi Brown Nude on Nude Eye Palette *, Bare Minerals Lash Domination * (Intense Black)
I was torn over which mascara to include as I was going to talk about the Revlon mascara (the blue one) I have been loving a lot but then I remembered this bad boy that I only discovered over the last couple of weeks but is well worth a shout out. It’s one that on first use I wasn’t that impressed. Then I saw it in photos and realised how intensely black it was and fell in love. It took a bit of work to realise it’s one that does need layering to get the best finish but it’s worth the work. SO dark – love. Eyeshadow wise I’ve been going for matte shades from this new Bobbi Brown Nude on Nude Eye Palette that is from the Malibu Nudes collection. My two favourites you can see from the photos as the powder is a tad smudged around my most-used (the middle grey and the warmer grey on the bottom in the photo). They just add definition and even out the lid whilst keeping things natural.
Brows: Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel * (Awe) + Benefit Gimme Brow * (Light/Medium)
These are just the same as last month… maybe I need to shake up my brow routine?! Or maybe I just found the ideal combo… forever using my Liz Earle brow brush too. It’s the best.
Cheeks: Clinique Cheek Pop * (08 Melon Pop)
I finally switched out my beloved Tarte Tipsy Blusher for something this month – not to say I don’t still love the Tarte one and reach for it from time to time. But it seemed wrong to totally ignore the rest of my collection in favour of it, the other blushers were getting jealous. So I’ve been mostly opting for this peachy pop of colour from Clinique to bring a bit of a Spring-pep into my cheeks… or at least that’s what i’m going for! These Cheek Pop blushers really are the prettiest and this peachy shade has been a nice change from the pink I’ve made a staple over recent months.
Lips: Bite Agave Lip Mask
Same old story with my lips this month, they’re mostly chapped so have been focusing on balms and keeping them as hydrated and plumped as possible. This Lip Mask from Bite Beauty (bring it to the UK already!) has been my lip product of choice as a little goes a long way and lasts a LONG time. I tend to apply a thick coat of it and just let it absorb through the day.
So that’s it for this month’s ‘face’ post – a few regular players that pop up again and again and a few new items that I’ve been switching around a little more often. These posts are quite a nice way to remind myself to switch things up a bit more and lets me look back on what I’ve reached for most regularly – I have realised I rarely have just one item I reach for though when it comes to both Primer and Mascara, these are definitely the items I switch the most that’s quite surprising as you would think the more colour let ones would be the more ‘rotateable’… Which items do you find you switch around the most and which do you stick to?!
Note for March… lipstick or lip colour NEEDS to be added more. And maybe braver than the Clinique nude lip I’ve been loving this month (not shown here but can be seen in the Feb video)
