Urban Decay Oz Great and Powerful ‘The Glinda Palette’

Who doesn’t love the Wizard of Oz story? And now for a new version of the classic to be out featuring Mila Kunis (could she be any more awesome), and the gorgeous Michelle Williams (still can’t believe she’s the same girl as used to be in Dawson’s Creek).  Urban Decay have released two palettes for each character and I’ve been playing with the ‘Glinda’ palette – created for the look of Michelle Williams character in the movie.

The shades are that gorgeous mix of subtle colours and safe neutrals with a sprinkling of purple shade colours and the metallic sheens. Despite being a six-pan palette, there are eight shades due to two of the shades in there having a duo-pigment in one pan. Then there’s the addition of the ‘Rockstar’ liner in a deep aubergine to compliment the purple shadow shades and the Glinda Super Saturated glossy pencil – for a creamy rich rose type shade.

The kit also comes with a little card tutorial to recreate her look – and what a gorgeous look it is!

The shades are:

Tornado: Vibrant deep purple shimmer
Aura: Iridescent white with blue/Iridescent white with pink
Magic: Pinkish purple with slight golden shimmer
Illusion: Pale peach satin
Oz: Gold with glitter/Silver with glitter
South: Warm pale grey shimmer with some subtle glitter

My favourite shade from the palette is the gorgeous Illusion – I don’t think I have any other peach shades in my collection. I have plenty of neutral nudes, or pinky shades – but nothing that I would confidently call peach and this shade is so pretty! I also really like South – a sort of pewter shade that’s really wearable for all skin tones.

Overall, I really like this palette and looking on line it’s definitely my preferred of the two. The other ‘Theodora’ palette contains a similar mix of neutrals plus colour, with green instead of purple and some more brown shades. Although the rich red gloss in this palette is stunning!
