Ok, so not the catchiest of titles but this post is all about the current base combo love in my make-up life at the moment. Firstly the new Estee Lauder Clear Difference BB Cream – designed to perfect the skin, and helping clear any blemishes etc in the process. Part of a few new additions to the Clear Difference range of products. Then there’s the YSL Youth Liberator Foundation which I have loved since it launched last year. What I am loving most of all is the combination of both of these – when worn together it seems to create a bit of a dream team for my pesky combination skin.
WOAH there giant picture of my face – I wanted to do a proper close up so you can see the texture and finish. So sorry you have to see the giant sized mug of mine there whilst I waffle on about these two base favourites.
Firstly, the Estee Lauder Clear Difference BB Cream – it’s quite a thick feeling formula, but I find it blends with skin easily and only a small amount is needed. Maybe the size of a pea, this just events things out and creates a nice base. I then have been adding one small pump of the YSL Youth Liberator foundation on top – and buffing in with a brush. For both bases I tend to apply with clean fingers, then use the brush to buff it in at the end to make it all even.
The overall finish with these two is one that leans towards the matte side, but not totally flat matte. The YSL helps add a touch more brightness and glow – but the Estee Lauder BB helps keeps oil at bay on the t-zone. I do tend to go lightly with any base product on my cheek/under-eye area as no-matter how hydrating this tends to show any fine lines as the day progresses. So I prefer to keep it very light in this area. I have also been adding the smallest dab of the By Hyaluronic Hydra Powder to set on the t-zone and keep things as I said – matte, but not too flat. This also keeps it in place even on busier days running all over London.
I have to say I also really like the BB on it’s own for lazy days, but when I want a base with that little bit more coverage and staying power – that will last all day. Then the Estee Lauder & YSL combo is my current love. The shades I’m using are Estee Lauder Clear Difference BB Cream in ’01 Light’ and YSL Youth Liberator in the shade BR20.
Anyone else like to mix and match foundation/base combos to create their ideal finish? What combinations are you loving?
